Quick update, I'm fasting today so yesterday was a feed day but I ate very sensibly and low carb, after my last feed day I had put on 2lb but after this one nothing, I stayed the same, should be interesting to see what the weightloss is tomorrow, I'm going to break my fast at around lunchtime, not one for the men but I would like to point out fasting is a lot harder when you are ovulating:o:rotfl:should be fun when I've got pmt then, apologies in advance;)

DH and I (early 50s) were absolutely fascinated by the Horizon program, and hugely impressed by Michael Mosley's personal results, and we have decided to give it a try.

DH needs to lose a fair bit of weight, 3-4 stones, and wants to be able to give up his blood pressure medication (obviously, he won't do that without medical input, and doesn't expect to be able to do it until a good proportion of weight has gone). I could do with losing a stone, maybe even a stone and a half which crept on over the last 5 years or so. The last general checkup I had suggested that my BP could be a little lower - tho' it was nothing serious requiring chemical intervention.

Other than that, we are both in good health, or we wouldn't have tried this

We are also interested in the possible long-term benefits, but time will tell of course.

So we have fasted since Wednesday night dinner. I must admit I thought the 2 days had to be consecutive for this to work. Last night we had a small meal (about 450 cals for him, a bit less for me). we have been drinking water and tea (black tea for him, white with a HINT of sugar for me, hence I had fewer cals at dinner). We're planning only 450 - 500 cals tonight, then back to normal - sensible - eating tomorrow, until next week.

I'm not finding this too bad at all so far, and at times when I'm busy at work, I can imagine it being no prob at all, I quite frequently get thru working days having had no time to eat.

We have said we will try this for 4 weeks before we weigh ourselves again. Will keep looking on here to see how everyone else fares...
I try not to get too stressed out on the forum. I won't argue, i'll just leave a thread if you don't like what I say. :)

    May I join in please.

I have fasted today. I'm not going for 2 consecutive days but will space them - say every third day or similar, so twice a week.

I've found it very easy today - so far. Fingers crossed.;)
  • I've been practising daily intermittent fasting for over 18 months now. It's the best thing I ever did! I suffered with binge eating for more than ten years and hunger was one of my triggers. I spent a long time eating every couple of hours to make sure I didn't get hungry and in time, that developed into a total fear of getting hungry.

I could never do anything spontaneous as I was always thinking of my next meal and my food was planned with military precision.

IF has totally liberated me from those feelings and as a result I haven't binged since I started it.

The weight loss is a very positive side effect.

I fast every day for 16-18 hours and have done several 24+ hour fasts too with no ill effects.

I write a health & fitness blog and have covered my IF on several posts, if anyone is interested let me know and I'll share the links :)

I would like to join you all too please :) I live alone and snack/graze all day long... I love my bread and I am in quite a panic on how to stop eating it, I crave the stuff all day long!

I have signed up for the free site http://www.myfitnesspal.com/ and put in my stats for the day. I ate 2,604cals and should've had 1,257cals, to lose about 1stone and half.

I am going to fast tomorrow, unless I reach for the toast :(

I was going to start today, but I had leftover bolognaise to eat up! (Already froze one portion) ... Think I'll start next week. Honest.

Who said you should only have 1257cals a day? Sounds rather low to me unless you're an incredibly small, inactive person ;)
