    Hi all!

My hubby and I are starting on the 5:2 diet. Fast day number 1 is today!
I have tried it before, breakfast & lunch was fine, but DH was a bad influence for dinner! This time he suggested we both try it, so hoping for more success!

    So today I have had:

Half a pot of porridge: 100cals
    Avocado & crayfish salad: 200cals
    Salmon Sushi: 185cals

    Leaves me 15 left...

Anyone got any tips on how to fast? Not too good at it- I am starving!

    A fast day for me.

No breakfast, homemade carrot&parsely soup for lunch (101cals), veg sticks (22cals), clementine (35cals) for snacks. Dinner was vegs stirfry with noodles (328cals). 9cals left, gonna have some sugar free jelly later.

Surprised how easy it was today, but was very busy in work so time flew by.

johannalf88 - I'm newish to this but my main tip is to not eat breakfast, if I ate breakfast on fast day it would make me want to eat more. I try to get to midday without eating, just have coffee/fruit tea/water. Then have a soup for lunch, veg sticks in pm, and early dinner. Save a few cals for a v low cal evening snack/treat e.g. jelly or fruit. HTH.

  • Back on this for the new year!

No breakfast on fast days and have started doing no breakfast on other days too - I'm never hungry, and if I eat it it just makes me want more food!

Tuscan bean soup for lunch and a salad with olives and chorizo for tea.

Back on 5:2 after a break at Christmas/New Year.

Bit scared to weigh myself but I know it must be done.

Only by facing up to the damage done by over-eating will I realise that I must eat better.

Whats the max allowed calories on fast days?

And, really for non-fast days too?

I try just to be fairly sensible on my non fast days. I've been considering checking my TDEE but not sure I can be bothered to calorie count each day. http://thefastdiet.co.uk/how-many-calories-on-a-non-fast-day/

Anyone got any tips on how to fast? Not too good at it- I am starving!

I've tried splitting my calories into 3, 2 and 1 meal and find the later I can leave it to start eating the easier it is!

What I did when I was on 5:2 was on fast days not eat until dinner time and just have a sensible dinner at that point. On non fast days I tried not to over eat and keep to 3 main meals a day (but did allow myself the odd snack).

I have been off it now for a couple of months but may need to start again soon to ensure I dont start going up again!

  • I'm back on the 5:2 again :T

So far I have lost 10lb AND it's stayed off - even over Christmas period (which for me started weeks before Christmas). I cant quiet believe it :j.

I want to loose about 1/2 a stone in time for the summer. I find it easier to fast as the nights are slowely getting shorter and with spring just around the corner.

I drink tea and coffee (milk no sugar) during the day, with a mug of chicken bovril at lunchtime. Then a normal(ish) dinner with my daughter in the evening.
Eating any earlier makes me more hungry so I am better off saving the majority of my calories until evening.
