I tried this diet early this year but being veggie, I found it incredibly hard to eat a lot of egg etc for protein.
I'm not sure I really understand this. The focus on the two days is calorie restriction not composition of food, so you don't have to try and bring in lots of protein. Or were you seeing some sort of effect from not having enough protein?

I'm generally very repetitive with food so I always have something similar.
I don't eat at all until dinner time when I have a filling soup - home made chicken broth or Sainsbury meal soup (I'm sure the other supermarkets will do something similar). They're pretty filling and come in just over 200 cals.

An hour or so later I have a large plate of salad filled with the low cal stuff (lettuce, tomatoes, cucumber, grated carrot, onion) and top with a little dressing. Obviously not a creamy one, I like balsamic-style dressings. This comes in about 150 cals, but you have to be careful how much dressing you use because that's the calorie bit.

I'll have 4 coffees through the day with a little milk, no sugar. And will make sure I have enough calories to have an oxo (dissolved in hot water, like bovril) before bed.

I rarely feel hungry on fast days, and have had great results.

    Photogenic
I have done it for over a year and I eat by putting food in my mouth, closing my mouth, chewing and swallowing, is their another way?

I've done this since August, and on my feed days I eat normally but healthily. I keep to around 1500-1800 calories, but I'm not too strict about it.

  • Back on it as of the 6th January (back to routine etc)

I lost 2 stone on it last year and 5:2 is the only change (don't like saying diet) I have been able to fully stick to one reason being it completely re trains our bodies to how we see food and when we feel hungry. It is amazing really and I highly recommend it to everyone. :-)

Good luck to everyone!! I am hoping to get down to my goal this year BRING IT ON! Xx

    Hello all

I'm fully embracing 5:2 as of today. I tried it for 3wks end of Nov/start Dec and lost half a stone which was fab. Haven't stuck to it over Xmas but didn't really over-indulge which is a first.

I plan to have fast days on Weds and Fridays from next week, but wanted to have a kick start day today as I'm back in work and find it easier to fast on work days.

    Todays meals:

    - nothing for breakfast
    - lunch was HM carrot&parsley soup - which was delicious even if I do say so myself! (101cals)
    - Snacks of celery sticks (30cals) and clementine (35cals) for this afternoon. SF jelly as a snack later too (12cals). Coffee/Fruit tea/Water throughout the day.

Not 100% sure on dinner yet, we need to do a shop but I don't want to shop on a fast day so it will prob be egg and half tin of beans on 2 x WW toast (329cals).

    Total of 507cals.

I'm veggie and have been following this. The beauty of it is things like quorn and veggies (and even eggs) are low calorie and having pulses helps to fill me up.

I have to admit I struggled in December. I had a small operation so have been unable to exercise, was stuck at home a lot so turned to food when I was bored, had no routine which I hadn't realised I needed to fast or keep motivated and gave up smoking. Pleased to say I am now 30 days no smoking, will be back to the gym slowly and back on the diet properly today. I put on over December so now have to shift that and some. :o:o
