non-fast days are whatever i fancy to be honest, whilst not actually counting calories, i do tend to keep more of an eye on what i'm consuming. the calorie laden delights that would have gone in my shopping trolly without a 2nd glance, i now seem to pick up, see just how much fat/calories there are  , then quickly put them back on the shelf! but, on the other hand, if i do fancy a piece of cake or a few glasses of wine, i will - with no guilt attached.

i was having regular deliveries from Gousto until recently, now i'm just going back & doing the favourite recipes we had off them again but buying my own ingredients. it's really got me back into my love of cooking, something which i'd lost touch with.

Lashley - that's 7stone in a year? that's incredible! took me at least 18 months when i lost 6 stone many years ago. i'm averaging 7lbs a month now which i'm happy with. i do aqua aerobics 3-4 times a week & that's helping getting me toned. after i've lost another stone i'm aiming to do 1-2 sessions per week on the resistance machines at the gym again. i did this before & really enjoyed it.

Today is another fast day for me.

I don't think I've lost any weight this week but I feel so much better already and my clothes are definitely feeling looser. I think I'm going to put the scales away for a while so I don't focus on this.

Another fast day for me too!

    And I lost 4lb last week! :T

My DH was saying that must be a mistake, then weighed himself, and he had lost over 2lb too!

I have been also trying to do Tesco diets on the off days, but not sticking religiously to it. More of a guideline!

Fast day for me today and a work colleague has just asked to borrow the book from me after seeing my progress.

Back on 5:2 after a break at Christmas/New Year.

Bit scared to weigh myself but I know it must be done.

Only by facing up to the damage done by over-eating will I realise that I must eat better.

    Wee bit negative there.

Try changing that to, only by changing my habits will I begin seeing the benefits of eating healthily.

The way you say it makes it sound like a punishment, but it has rewards for your hard work and you are worth it :j

  • Hi everyone, happy new year!

I've been awol for ages but thought I'd check in!

Just back at work after 3 weeks off during which time I've moved out of my flat, moved home with parents over xmas and new year where I was completely overfed, then moved into our new house with a weeks worth of decorating and living on takeaways thrown in!
Have only managed to fast once in that time and I've got into so many bad habits.

Fasting today and really, really struggling. About to have a miso soup to help me through the day. Have my first weigh in since the week before Xmas tomorrow and I am dreading it but I think it'll be good for me to see the damage and draw a line under it! I have a wedding to slim for this year - eek!

  • I'm also doing this. I work very long days and have been eating to keep my energy up, which has had the unfortunate effect of sliding another 7lb on a frame that was already 7lb more than I would like. I'm aiming to lose 14-18lb between 1/1/14 and 1/3/14 and then to try and maintain (which has always been the problem before).

So far I'm 6lb down, on my fourth fast day :-)
  • Result!! Only gained 1lb since before Xmas which leaved me 0.5lb under target. Thank goodness!

Setting myself a new target as I want to lose another 5/6lbs to feel comfortable in the style of wedding dress I've chosen. And I really need to do some work on toning my arms!

  • Hey,

I do the 5:2 eating programme - I view it as a long term thing rather than a diet.

I lost 6 pounds in my first week and i'm dropping more pounds every week, so I can say it definitely works.

I do my 500 calorie days on Tuesdays and Thursdays so that it's easy to fit in with work and i'm not worrying about food on the weekend. You can just eat as usual on the other 5 'normal' days of the week, but I choose to still eat healthily (probably 1000 calories).

The best advice I can give is to plan what you're going to eat on your 500 calorie days and stick to it - I have a Meal Replacement drink (212 calories) as near to lunch as possible - 3 Rice cakes (72 calories) one at 1pm, one at 2:30pm and one at 4pm.. then I'll eat a chicken breast with vegetables for dinner.

    Hope this helps :)
