Down to a 34" true waist size from 44" at my largest and 40" just over a year ago. Between 21% and 13% body fat depending on method used.

Have also been able to buy shirts and t-shirts without an X on them recently.
You are such an inspiration on here, well done with the inch loss :T

Hello all! Good to see so many doing well and still sticking with it! I can't remember the last time I had a fast, possibly September.

When I stopped I was 10stone 3lbs. Since then I've stayed the same without being very strict on my diet. Doing 5:2 certainly changed the way I eat without really thinking about it.

I've decided I'm going to go back on it though as I want to shift a few more lbs. I've started doing Kettlebell workouts on alternate days and I've upped my running to 4-5 days/week.

Doug, am I right in remembering that you said you've done Kettlebell workouts in the past? I'm sure I remember someone on here doing them. I bought one from Aldi the other day when I noticed that a 7.5kg one was only £7.99. Has anyone had much success with one?

I can't afford the gym at the moment or a full set of weights so I'm looking for any sort of strength training that is likely to yield decent results. So it's the kettlebell and body weight strength training.

Anyway, like i said, good to see people keeping up with it! And well done everyone on your losses :D

  • Hi folks,

After reading the thread for a long time and never actually starting 5:2, my wife said she wanted to do it two weeks ago so i'm doing it too.

Last week was the first week with Monday the first fast day - went so well until I remembered I had a mystery shop booked in at Wetherspoons for lunch. Whoops. So I ended up having an apple and a black coffee for breakfast, a pulled pork sandwich with chips and onion rings for lunch, busting my 600 cals limit on its own and then nothing for tea.

So my first proper fast day was Thursday - apple and black coffee for breakfast, stick of celery with philly extra light on and 6 cherry toms for lunch and a piece of mackerel and loads of stir fried veg with soy sauce for tea. Just over 500 cals all in when the few teas with milk are included.

Had a few beers and a chinese takeaway over the weekend so hope I haven't undone the 1 and a half fast days.

Have ordered some scales from Tesco for £12.50.... we were paying 50p per person each time we weighed ourselves in Tesco so this is an investment.

    Next fast is tomorrow.

  • Into my sixth week here and have been doing alternate day fasting since the second week. Fast day today and just under seven pounds lost so far :D

At first I was finding the fast days quite difficult - although I'd briefly tried 5:2 before for three months last year, doing it every other day was much harder to get used to - but now I'm into the swing of things it's easy peasy ;)

Am setting myself mini goals - the first is to lose 10 lbs by my birthday (third week of Feb) - and feel on target at the mo......hope our little treat of lunch at Brasserie Blanc this Wednesday won't put paid to that, lol!

after a good start to 2014 i now appear to have hit 'the wall' ! last Saturday weigh day showed me to be exactly the same weight as just before Xmas & meant i missed my January goal by 3lbs.

i've been doing 4:3 since before Xmas so i can't add another fast day, i've also been exercising 4 days instead of 3 for the past 2 weeks (coincidence that my weight has yo-yo'd since then?) so i can't really improve that at the moment either.

i'm trying really hard not to get down about it or let the numbers on the scales define me (drama queen, me?! :D). will concentrate on my clothes at the moment as they are still getting bigger & i'm now wearing underwear that I haven't fitted into for years...
  • My third fast day today and I am going to a football match straight after work tonight so will be tough to resist the burgers and chips at the game.

Had my usual apple and coffee for breakfast and then packed up a big bag of healthy goodies for lunch and tea:

    2 x cellery sticks
    60g x Philly Extra Light
    7 x Cherry Toms
    1 x Banana
    1 x Apple
    1 x Satsuma
    1 x 100g red grapes
    1 x Pitta bread

Hopefully I can be good and stick with just that food when I get to the match all cold (and probably depressed at my team losing).
