5:2 diet

Hi Organic Wanabe,
I am another lurker who hasn't posted on this thread before but been following it for the tips and seeing how others are doing.
I started doing the 5:2 at the end of August and I have lost half a stone so very pleased with that and have felt more energetic as a result. I would really like to lose more though so I am carrying on.
I did have a blip a few weeks ago where even though I "fasted" I put on a lb 2 weeks running but I think I over indulged on the normal days and didn't exercise enough. Oops! Last week I lost a lb so hopefully back on track now.
I was very interested to read your comments on the Cauliflower Rice as I saw the recipe in the LBD 5:2 pullout in the Mail on Sunday magazine at the weekend and thought I will have to try that. Hopefully I will give it a go at the weekend.
Well done with your progress and well done everyone else who takes the time to post.
PS. Hope you are feeling better now Littlerat and that you get back on track."Go placidly amid the noise and haste and remember what peace there may be in silence": Desiderata0 -
Hello,
sorry i've not posted in a while either.
I've been on it since the end of May (27th) and to date have lost 3 stone. I do intermittent fasting but with the 5:2 rules still. I did mean to drop down from 3 days to 2 but can't quite bring myself to. i'm half afraid of not losing enough if I don't fast for 3 days!
On a Saturday I do the all day fasting til suppertime with only drinks during the day. I find that once I start eating I want to eat more and so it's easier to not eat.
i've recently bought some new clothes as my others were falling down all the time. I chucked some PJs out this morning as you could actually fit 2 people in them.
I'm fasting today and am just wondering what to have for supper tonight. I've got about 400 odd calories I could have if I wanted, but now the days are getting cooler, I would like hot food.
I sometimes buy the low calorie fast-food, WW do a nice range in pouches which you just pop in the microwave. When you are at work til 6 and don't get home til late - are ideal.
I don't know if anyone else has found this, but I look in the mirror and still see myself at fat. I'm actually no longer overweight, but I don't yet 'see' a slim woman looking back at me iykwim!Mortgage free as of 10/02/2015. Every brick and blade of grass belongs to meeeee. :j0 -
Wow Spirit, that is brilliant - 3 stone down - I am really impressed.
I use the WW ready meals some times as well, OH always moans when he sees the packet but he does admit after eating the Shepherds Pie or Lasagne that they were actually quite nice LOL.
It is hard to 'see' yourself differently to the image you have in your head. Maybe you need to pretend you have got an imaginary friend standing next to you when you look in the mirror and listen to them telling you how fantastic you look and how well you have done and believe them! I hope that doesn't sound too whacky!!
Other people must have already noticed the change and be telling you how good you are looking in real life. Enjoy your achievements!"Go placidly amid the noise and haste and remember what peace there may be in silence": Desiderata0 -

It's possible (probable?) that I'm reading too much into your post, but be careful that you don't take things too far.Do you not know that a man is not dead while his name is still spoken?

i've been doing 5:2 properly for 8 weeks now & have lost 1st1lb, so on a par with what i've lost before thru dieting. however, this feels very different! no depriving myself or guilt when i've had a 'bad' day & eating to my appetite more than i ever have before. i'm much more aware of the calories i'm consuming but not overly fussing about them either. i feel this really suits me & i definitely want to continue it long term as i have other health issues & a lot of weight to lose too.
we're away for xmas & new year so that gives me 6 weeks & i want to try & lose another stone before then (but i'd still be happy with around 10lb gone). i'm getting myself a little more organised & will be making myself a big pot of chicken & veggie casserole for my 2 fast days on Mon/Tues. if i'm having a non-hungry day i'll try & add that in as another fast day (max of 3 per week though). will also aim to cut out wine, perhaps just have a drink every other week, instead of 1 drinking day every week as i had slipped into, oops!

from my personal experience, i'd have to agree with this. i managed to lose 6 stone about 12 years ago now (but put it all back on unfortunately). i'd dropped about 6/7 dress sizes & everyone was saying how great i looked, but i had no connection with this woman in the mirror - i was still feeling like a fat person inside. it had a massive impact on me mentally, a lot of which i've only come to understand fully in the past 2 years.
hopefully things aren't the same for you Spirit, but please be mindful of the changes that are happening & how you're dealing with them.0 -
Wow there are some great weight losses going on here. Well done!
I am fasting today. I actually have no idea what I will eat as I'm really not prepared for it but will likely just have it in one meal today.0 -
I've not posted for a while either as I've just not had a chance to fast since before I went on holiday. So much happening!
Had my weigh in yesterday and still lost 1lb so I think even without fasting I seem to have changed my eating habits for the better! Fasting today to get back into it...but I'm starving!!! First one back is always a bit harder but I'll ride it out!
I am in the same place as spirit. I've now lost almost 4 stone since last year and am a healthy size and weight. Everyone tells me I look great. People I've not seen for a while get a shock when they see me. But I still see myself the same as always...I can't get my head around being slim! I've said this before on here but I still pick up clothes in my old size and then get a surprise when they're hanging off me! I think maybe it just takes time. That's what I'm hoping anyway as I want to be confident in myself and not still feel fat!
