I have a delicious chicken stew (not tons of chicken, more veg) done into nice portions ready for fast days, 3 weeks worth if I had it every time. Which I probably won't! Want some variation. Good size portions for about 400 cals too (leaves space for a small breakfast). Actually, shockingly big portions, but there's no fat in there really to bump it up.

Made banana bread this morning, and only ate 2 slices, how's that for control?

Of course, not fasting today, so looking forward to stuffed chicken thighs for dinner.

Welcome 3 kids. It is a great WOE, and really easy to tailor to particular needs, and even preferences.

I've lost fairly steadily but put on about 5lbs during my birthday week :)which I lost by the end of it.

Good luck to you and your hubbie, I'm sure you'll do fine.
  • Excellent fast day today. I was out all day ending up with yoga and returning home at about 3 pm (I am retired, by the way). Wanted something quick as all I had had were cups of tea before I went out, so made the Chicken Couscous from the 5:2 diet book for one (289 cals) and then at about 8 pm I had "Spiced up Banana Smoothie" (banana, 120ml skimmed milk, but I used Almond milk as it has fewer calories, quarter teaspoon of ground cinnamon, ground nutmeg, and ground cloves - I didn't have this, and a handful of ice, I didn't use that either!). Put it all together and blend. I will definitely try this with skimmed milk and cloves at some stage, and probably on a non-fast day with Greek yoghurt.

Have enjoyed a really easy fast day, and feeling very worthy now!

    Good luck all.

I'm going to try this with almond milk, thanks. The problem for me with having a 'creamier' version on non fast days would be I'd consider the fast day alternative 'lesser' and so I'd just have something different on the non fast day. Funny how we all do it differently huh? :)

    Speaking of which.....

I've inadvertently bounced into my next fast early, after finding it easier to break the fast today I was simply not hungry this afternoon nor this evening. I couldn't see why I should eat if not hungry so have just accepted bouncing into the fast I was going o do tomorrow a bit earlier. I prefer to take the whole day as a fast, with the small meal or snacks as works for me on that day, rather than 'a twenty four hour period' straddling two days, but worth trying once anyway. Might me easier for me to break the fast, which is where I struggle a bit.

I know some people do two day fasts, so this isn't too concerning. Made me wonder if stalling progress might be boosted not by more fasts but simply by changing fast routine....days for example. Giving the body a surprise.

To get over a plateaux you need to do something to 'shock' the body, such as a change of routine, be in an increase or decrease in either exercise or food. Just something to wake it up really.

So yeah, changing up the routine would help.

Last edited by Ruby_Ruby; Yesterday at 4:54 PM. Reason: Missed a kid.

I miss a kid quite a lot now as my eldest is in the Army and based in NI!!!

Yesterday went really well, not too difficult at all. Think I may have been slightly over my calories with dinner as we had a jacket potato with a large green salad and I used one of my herb grinders over the top giving it a nice chilli kick! I am amazed how many calories there are in a plain potato!

So that's my 2 fast days done for this week, DH has stuck to it too so we will see on Monday morning if we have lost anything. I am amazed as I thought I would wake up absolutely starving this morning but wasn't hungry at all! Feel quite energized as well so long may that continue.

Have a great weekend everyone and 'Happy Fasting'

I think they're lovely, I serve them with roasted veggies normally, or make a sausage sarnie with low calorie bread.

Today has been horrible! I am so so so hungry!

I do veggie sausages with roast veg too, one of my favs!! Will have to have it on a fast day one day.

I'm doubley pleased today, I wanted yesterday to be a fast day but I had a presentation event to host for the students I work with which is normally very stressful and I end up eating lots of biscuits! But I managed to avoid them all, and end the day on 497 calories :D.

But even better, after 1 week of following 5:2 I have lost an amazing 7lbs!!!!! :j:j:j I can't believe it. Just hope I can keep up the motivation.
