littlerat - congratulations on your first fast :T

I decided to do three fast this week, hoping to get a good loss this to make up for last week, so did a fast today but my intake has been about 600 calories - the mid afternoon energy slump always gets me reaching for a cracker or two.

Tomorrow will be a normal food day, and I'll fast again on Friday.
    SAVER o:)
  • Back fasting today after a month or so falling off the wagon. I had been prescribed iron as I was so aneamic, but taking them 3x a day on a relatively empty stomach really sent my stomach into a tizzy - things seemed to have sorted themselves now, and I take all 3 tablets at once in the evening with a glass of juice. Not sure if that is strictly kosher but 5:2 was working for me and I am desperate to get back to it.

Struggled a bit today with fasting again. Had several cups of tea, a coffee and when I really got hungry had a few almonds. Halfway through the day DD invited us to hers for dinner, she's had a trying few days and just wanted to see us so didn't want to turn her down. Calculated I'd have 500 calories or less in 24 hours so still somewhat of a fast.
No buying unnecessary toiletries 2014. Epiphany on 4/4/14 - went into shop to buy 2 items, walked out with 17!

But I do think you should eat normally on certain non-fast days to avoid the idea that your body goes into starvation mode, and also to keep you on the diet. Michael Moseley's website gives you an idea of how many calories you should be having a day.

Just wanted to say, used this one and the figures seemed about right.

Used one on another site, a weightloss one at that, and it reckoned I was eating over 4,000 calories a day to have stayed at my weight. Which, while I have eaten a lot, I doubt I get to 4,000 even on Christmas day!

But what yours reckons seems right :)

Pleased I managed my first fast day, thanks for the support! Next one feels less daunting now. Came in just under 550 calories.

On day 4 I think of a migraine though, not so great, can't sleep. Get them once our twice a year like this, drives me up the wall!

First fast day. Had weetabix with hot water and a splash of milk, no sugar (makes like a wheat porridge, childhood breakfast!) and leftover beef stew. Have to make a large vegetable stew, could have a bigger portion of that.

Full-ish for now (probably how full people are supposed to eat to) but worried how I'll be in a few hours, it's probably half my normal portion. Can always allow myself an apple (would make it to about 600, my max).

Really wanted a toffee crisp earlier, than read the packet and realised I was consuming 229 calories for that 1 small chocolate bar, which is just... ridiculous.

Yeah I got like that with things I used to eat more often. My biggest shock was the Blackfriars Bakewell Flapjack from Aldi - 462 - put me right off them. I could have oven chips, peas and a bit of fish for less.

    Fasting today.

    Morning all.

I got on the scales this morning after 2 fasts this week to see i'm still at 10stone 2. I'm trying not to let it annoy me and I still plan on having another fast tomorrow but it's so frustrating! I've been trying to eat cleaner through the week and only treating myself to something naughty on a saturday but it just doesn't seem to make a difference. Honestly I think i lost more weight when I was eating worse on non-fast days.

I do wonder if sometimes I don't eat enough when I'm trying to eat well. I used MyFitnessPal once and after breakfast, lunch and dinner i was still only at 1400 calories. It seems enough for me but my tdee is 2211. I just can't imagine eating that much though.

I've upped my water intake though, so i doubt i'm retaining any. I don't know, this weight loss business is just too frustrating sometimes! :o

Perhaps you should concentrate more on exercising to lose inches rather than getting hung up on your weight? It seems your body has found it's ideal "weight" but you can still shrink your body size with body weight and high intensity training.

    I've been Money Tipped!
I feel so much better today. :). Both in food terms and health wise. Everyday I look at this, fasting suits my body. Yesterday I was really sore from my health complaints, hobbling and also feeling 'dietarily sluggish'. Today I'm barely lame at all, I'm not using a stick and would today go into town for tofu ;) , and much more full of metaphorical beans. :)

I am having the same old struggle with BREAKING the fast though. A far I've had a couple of hot drinks and water and picked at some onion and celery while prepping veg for soup and had a raspberry while walking past the raspberry canes to let the chickens out. I know that breaking the fast is metabolically important, as well as probably good for the mind, I just struggle with that part more.

Thanks Chameleon. I've seen that pic before and it does make you think. Maybe I have reached my ideal weight.

I'm going to get some dumbbells next week thought and I'm going to give 30 Day Shred a try so come the end of November we'll know either way! :)
  • Exciting news for me today. Lost 2lbs at my official weigh in and am now 0.5lb under my target! I am so happy!

I personally feel a still have a few lbs to go but at least now I don't have to pay to go to weigh in anymore as I'm a lifetime member and looking at Chameleon's very inspirational pics above I'm thinking I could exercise the extra inches off my thighs instead!

Just want to thank everyone on this thread for being so helpful...it's been so good to have somewhere to post on fast days and know that others have had results!
