Fair enough, though I would say if you have a Chinese supermarket of Cash and Carry anywhere their Tofu is usually miles better than the health food shop stuff usualy is. (Though you might have to call it bean curd - some of them have never heard of tofu or dofu)The truth may be out there, but the lies are inside your head. Terry Pratchett

No, I don't.
Its a real trek to the nearest city with one, I've not managed to get there once in the last five years! Its one of the things I miss about living in London. . There are somethings I can get DH to buy and bring home , other things that are less practical. Maybe the quality of the stuff I am buying is what I can blame my lack of great success cooking it at home on?. I am a die hard home cook, and usually 'not bad'. I really won't normally long for something bought in if I could make it at home easily as well.

All I can say in that case is - almost anything is better than cauldron for making Chinese food with, but cauldron is great for roasts, burgers etc.
so clear spot, engine shed or pauls if they have them.
See how much I have learned from having a vegan chef for a GF.The truth may be out there, but the lies are inside your head. Terry Pratchett

Thanks, that's really helpful!
Would your vegan chef gf have any good recommendations for people who aren't vegan but would like to sometimes cook vegan food? I'm not that keen on 'faking' things in food...so no quorn or fake meats etc, but love a good, honest nut roast for example. I cook quote a lot of vegetarian food but have recently been asked to experiement cutting out food groups because of intolerances.
Glass of milk was often how I took my pills, and really useful on a fast day!0 -
I spent a month being vegan last year. loved it and still cook most of the things I did then.
Curry is my go to, a good vegan curry is so so easy to make!0 -
I will ask her, she still has to give me the recipe for vegan mushroom stroganoff someone else asked for on here. The truth may be out there, but the lies are inside your head. Terry Pratchett

Curry is my go to, a good vegan curry is so so easy to make!. And delicious. And of course, like most things I cook , it HAPPENS to be vegan/vegetarian , rather than being forced.
I have to be a bit bland about spicing. My culinary life is a little drab these days!:(0 -

I love mushroom stroganoff. A vegan version could be really helpful,0 -
First fast day. Had weetabix with hot water and a splash of milk, no sugar (makes like a wheat porridge, childhood breakfast!) and leftover beef stew. Have to make a large vegetable stew, could have a bigger portion of that.
Full-ish for now (probably how full people are supposed to eat to) but worried how I'll be in a few hours, it's probably half my normal portion. Can always allow myself an apple (would make it to about 600, my max).
Really wanted a toffee crisp earlier, than read the packet and realised I was consuming 229 calories for that 1 small chocolate bar, which is just... ridiculous.0
