    Hi all,

Newbie here! I started the 5:2 diet back in May and lost almost a stone (12lbs) over two months before my holiday. I came back from holiday end of July and have now put everything back on (probably) - I daren't weight myself!

I'm going to get back on the wagon tomorrow, but does anyone have any words of advice for not slipping again? I really don't fancy becoming a yo-yoer!

Thought I'd join this forum as the community support thing could have been what I was lacking before?

    Thanks

You don't really need to become a yo-yoer because once you have reached your target weight you can do 6:1 for maintenance. Even if you go a couple of weeks without fasting, you can very quickly bring your weight down again.

    Hi All

I too have 'slipped' due to holidays & my routine changing I didn't manage to keep to the maintenance day either. I've crept back up to 152.6lb but this diet is so easy I'm back in the old routine!! . I did a fast day last Thursday & again today. I've recently been told by my doctor that I am 'at risk' from hip fracture so I'm keeping to yogurts on my fast days. I'll see how it goes ;)

Fasting again today, but I have lost the 2lbs I put on in my previous slip up. Less rubbish and back to 2 fasts a week. Though I have lost another 2" of my waist.

I was wondering if the reduction in the number of posts over the last few days was an indication of the success of the 5:2 diet.

Anyway, I fasted Sunday and Monday (sort of - a bit higher in calories than I would have liked), and now have a kilo to go before I'm back to target (after two weeks or so of holidays and visitors). Am thinking, though, of reducing the target by a couple of kgs.

The main thing, though, is that the weight never has to slink up to the 70kgs that I was a few years back.

Have suddenly realised that I am not hungry yet today and I fasted yesterday. Off to get a spot of lunch, now.

My tip for a fast day: look at the time and tell yourself you only have a few hours to go before you go to sleep, and then the following day you can eat normally. Well, it's what I have to do!

I am thinking of going on this diet, because a couple of months ago I caught some bug and went off my food. I probably ate around 500 calories for a couple of days, and in one week my weight went down by three kilos.
I am 5' 11" and weigh around 15.5 stones, but I would love to get down to around 11.5 stones if possible.
I am going down the gym in a moment, but I feel as though my diet needs looking at (I have high cholesterol).
So, I may just have a good read through this whole thread when I get back.

Hi there. If you only have a limited time, then read the first few pages and then the last couple perhaps. There's plenty of info and some heart-warming success stories, but the main link would be to the Michael Mosley page, and possibly even look at the Horizon programme that he did. It's very interesting.

Adouglasmhor has posted some before and after photos, as has Chameleon.

I started on this because it suits my lifestyle (periods when I cook for someone else, and periods when I'm alone and can suit myself). I also have high cholesterol and certainly that reduced when I dieted properly (ie went on a diet specifically to reduce this). So you can certainly combine any foods with the discipline of 600 cals (for a man) for 2 days a week, with normal, healthy eating on the 5 days.

Apparently, exercise only accounts for 20% of a regime to lose weight, so 80% is diet.

Best of luck with it all, and I hope you will post about how you are getting on.

    Hello Andy and welcome :hello:

As for me, I'm fasting today. Also did Monday. I've just had a beautiful dinner of home made meatballs and pasta with one of Lloyd Grossman's sauces. Came in at just under 500cals.

Got on the scales this morning to see 10stone 1lb flash up so I'm happy. We'll see what they say on Saturday. :D

You're doing great with this. My target weight is anything under 10 stone and I got weighed this morning and am quarter of a pound over! Definitely will make target next week. I fast Mondays and Thursdays and have lost 9 pounds now over about 11 weeks, including a week on holiday where I ate enough for 2 people and put on 2 pounds.

Probably the easiest diet I've ever been on and I've tried many over the years.

Today was another fast day for me.

I am holding off properly checking for any results until next week. Fingers crossed!

    Hi everyone :)
I'm fasting today for the first time in a month (I'd gone below my target weight) to remind my body how it works :rotfl:
    Is anyone with me?
