  • Afternoon Everyone!

Well it was another successful week for OH and I last week. I lost another 2lbs and OH lost half a pound (not much but still its going downwards!). We binged a lot this weekend :o and OH had a couple more bottles of cider than he normally would have as we had a particularly stressful week at work so he deserved a bit of a treat. He did a lot more manual work than he normally would have so I don't know if that meant his body stored what it normally wouldn't to make sure he had enough energy for the extra physical activity?

We usually fast on a Monday but we were out all day yesterday and I couldn't face preparing a calorie counted salad last night after driving for 2 hours so we've moved it to tomorrow.

I need to find some low calorie foods that OH can take out with him as he is driving all day tomorrow so can't really stop and eat a salad like we would normally have - I suppose I could do carrot sticks, celery and cucumber with some cherry tomatoes so it is easy to eat

Best wishes to everyone who is fasting today :)

I just downloaded this free kindle book

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/The-IF-Diet-ebook/dp/B00B0CQXGM

"The IF Diet" by Robert Skinner. Don't know if it's any good, but it's free so worth a look.

i grabbed this too & have just read it, would really recommend it as it's a very easy read but with lots of info & tips (especially as it's free at the moment). it's certainly got me interested in IF again & i'm going to give the 8 hours plan a go as that seems the best 'fit' for me at the moment.

i tried 5:2 right at the beginning of this thread, probably over a year ago now, but have had quite a few health problems (in no way related to 5:2 though!) in the meantime so never carried it on.

my health & life are on more of an even keel now so onwards & upwards from here on in! :T

After my trial fast last Wednesday, I am looking forward to my first full week. Monday and Thursday. Have a happy, healthy week everyone :)

Thank you, I just downloaded it too.

We've decided to stick with it yesterday, despite it being bank holidays. I think we have done reasonably well, though I think that I am more on 600 calories then 500 calories:( I couldn't really last between meals so I had few grapes and some blueberries from the garden...

Thanks for the link to the free book! I read it last night and it was really clear and easy to read. I just wondered what people thought about the option to stick to the 5/600 cals for two days in a row. In all the other books I've read they always state that the two days should be non-consecutive but this book said if you went two days on the fast your body would produce more of the growth hormone. Not really sure what to believe! Not that I think I could manage two days in a row...!

Had a quick flick through the book, tried two consecutive days once, won't do it again :D, as had a fail on 2nd day.
Been fasting today and not finding it too bad by not having anything till the evening meal, feel quite full now after my 550 kcal curry :)
Following horizon 5-2 started 28/01/13 target where I am now ish :)
Maintaining now as DW doesn't want my legs to get any skinnier :D
    Total Loss=41.6lb

I don't really like the two consecutive days either. So saying, I did do Monday and today, but that's just because I have some heavy eating coming up :) , so I may do another fast day on Thursday or Friday, to try to set up for the coming month.

I read the book, but I don't need the motivation - I saw the result on a friend! Now I'm seeing the result on me, and it's easy-peasy, and I don't really think for me that the thirder will work. I'm happy with the regime as it is.

Today I had 2 cups of tea, half of an Aldi marinated salmon pack with the sauce that goes with it (about 100 cals); half of a mixed salad and a teaspoon or two of salad dressing. Also 2 carrots; a peach with 100g of Greek Yoghurt.

Oh, and six blackberries picked from the hedgerows which I haven't counted!

    It's a fine diet!

I still use MFP but if there's a lot of difference I go for one in the middle, just an average.

Fasting today and having Hairy Dieters doner kebab for tea! Anyone else fasting today? :)

We are, but we have soup for lunch and the steak with roasted vegetables for tea, but now I am worried we will go well over the limit.
  • I'm fasting today too. First time since I put my back out as I'm now cutting right back on my pain killers. Feeling pretty hungry this morning which is unusual for me but it's probably because my body has now got used to me having a breakfast every day with my tablets. Hopefully it'll pass soon!

Chickvic, the HB kebab sounds amazing...is that in the first book or the second one??
