For the ones that eat nothing all day and then just have 500 cals for dinner, how do you cope during the day?
I go very light headed if I don't have anything all day...
I actually go a little light headed even if I eat something at lunch... I could definitely not be able to do any exercise on my fasting days...

I just get on with it, your body adjusts to it very quickly, the first day I felt rotten, the next a wee bit out of sorts, since then I have been fine with it.

My husband keeps all his calories for tea time and a light snack afterwards, he just has a cup of tea at lunch time, and he seems to be managing fine, it doesn't really bother him. Then again, he does work from home, if he still worked at his office, then I guess it might be more difficult for him.

I guess a solution would be to have something very small at lunch time, a boiled egg, a slice of ham, some raw vegetables maybe?
  • Looking good btw chameleon! How long did it take you to get like that?

I work in a relatively physical job and like I say, I got used to it quite quickly.

I don't work, but agree with you.

I do better when I go swimming, or have something interesting to do, during a fast day. I'm not swimming at the moment, and feeling guilty about that (will start again in mid-September: it's a combination of the annual subscription being due, and going to be away a lot till mid-Sept).

Such a good regime, this 5:2. So flexible, so easy to keep your weight down when you are at goal; and non-fast days are so freeing. And it's very cheap!

I made bread today, and had two slices with butter already. But feeling full, so will have something lightish and more nutritious a bit later.

Got another week before my 'partner' comes up to stay and various houseguests, then we are on holiday. So won't be fasting during that time. Will just go back to 5:2 when everyone has gone home.

It's lovely to hear all the stories, and WOW! Chameleon. You were pretty OK before, but the after photos are amazing. Well done you.

I have 800 grams to get to target, then I want to be a bit below as a margin to cope with the forthcoming boyfriend/ houseguest/ German diet. So two fasts next week, if not 3.

For those saving themselves for the evening (I can't do that), you may find having a spoonful of marmite in hot water may stave off the hunger pangs. Something tasty to sip, and 9 calories.

Well weigh in today, I found I had gained 1lb, well its only the 2nd time in nearly 7 months, so can live with it and maybe just have some lager on Fridays, then stick to red wine the other days ;)
This is the second week I have only been having a meal in the evenings, haven't felt faint at all and may try to do this most of the time.
Following horizon 5-2 started 28/01/13 target where I am now ish :)
Maintaining now as DW doesn't want my legs to get any skinnier :D
    Total Loss=41.6lb

I will see how it goes. The first time I had 150 cals for lunch and 265 for dinner (also had breakfast) and I managed on that fine. Just wondered as no one else mentioned being light headed.

You can't compare competing power lifters with people who regularly train with weights, two completely different animals! You of all people should know that!

At least 6 mths of clean eating, high protein & fat/low carb foods and plenty of weights and resistance/plyometric work. It takes hard work to maintain though ;)
