Right that's it after reading the whole thread (phew) I have decided to give this a go.

Hi everyone..my name is Webitha and I am a fatty, just weighed myself and I am 11st 6lbs, and I have to do something as I have to give up the ghost on my size 12 jeans *sobs*, all I want to do is lose a stone and generally improve my figure and overall fitness.
So I will be here most days reading and generally keeping up my motivation, I have even started to exercise :j
also took measurements and the obligatory "before" pics.

Heres hoping that I will see some improvement before 20th Sept.
    Wish me luck.

    Welcome and good luck! :)

I am here as sort of an unofficial member as it were, (I hope the guys and gals don't mind?!), and only post now and again. It's actually my husband who does the 5:2, but as I'm on the forum, I come on here for tips etc.

It the only 'diet' he's really seen results with so far, and he's finding it the easiest to stick to.

He usually doesn't have a breakfast or dinner, but saves his calories up for tea time and maybe a light snack afterwards (we're terrible evening snackers!) like some fruit or fish sticks.

    Anyhow, all the best!
  • It's actually his starve day today, I'm just wondering what to make for tea now?

Welcome Webitha, I'm sure you'll do great.

It's my fast day today and I really need it after being a bit of a glutton yesterday.

I really love this diet :D

Sirloin steak is 213 calories per 100g so a 6oz steak would contain about 400 calories.

Thank you Chameleon, we ate it anyway. It was too late to change. OH was also grumpy and tired, apparently some people suffer from that at the beginnings on their fasting days. To be fair I was quite grumpy on Monday, but yesterday I got extremely exciting news in the morning and that carried me all day.

OH weighted himself this morning and he lost 4.5lb in the last 8 days!! (3 fasting days in that as we do Monday &Wednesday and we started last Wednesday).

What do you use to get correct calories for things please?
From my research it seems that lot of people on the internet make the 5:2 diet from completely made up numbers... I am not sure which source to trust!

    Photogenic
I use Spark People for my calorie figures.

Fasted yesterday and was back to feeling cold all day. Had a huge broccolli, tofu ginger and spring onion stir fry for tea though with a small half portion of salt and chili chips, did a metafit last night too.

I use food composition databases as used by the FSA, the food industry, all dieticians/nutritionists and those in public health/education etc. They are the most accurate. Never trust the internet unless it's a proven, reliable source ;)

Chameleon, can you give me a link please?

    Sounds nice Adouglasamhor.

What do people who try to eat 3 meals a day have for breakfast please? I am struggling with ideas for breakfast... something filling at least a bit and that I can eat at work..

I don't eat till dinner, but how about a couple of Turkey Rashers, 51 calories and egg whites, or in a sandwich with Warburton thins, 100 cals, or some other low cal bread.

Not the healthiest, but still :D

I'm fasting today. Just had a M&S Fuller for Longer Cod Mornay because I've been out all morning so it was quicker/easier than coming in and rushing to make something. Will take some raspberries and blackberries to work with me. Plus got enough left over for my favourite hot chocolate when I get home. :)

Will get weighed in the morning and here's hoping that 1lb I put back on has shifted!
