Any tips for getting my motivation back?? I'm feeling a bit disheartened by it all to be honest! I know 5:2 can work and did enjoy it but I can't seem to get back on track!!
I don't have tips as such, but maybe if you set yourself clear fast days, no options for a few weeks until you get in the swing of it again? Maybe post in here, and report on the day so we can tell you off if need be.:naughty: Nothing like feeling you are accountable.:p

I have an unmovable resolve on my fast days; I think it's because I know that there is always the next day to have that treat....

Mmnnnnnn. more like forgotten how many cakes I have eaten rather than pre menstrual, at my age!! But yes I see what you mean, so it could be not eating enough? Myfitness says I should eat 1200, but its not always that low, but not grossly over.

This is hard work, making sure we eat the right vitamins, protein and so on, and regarding water retention, I didn't even have my usual amount of wine I usually have over the weekend! So maybe that's the answer, no cakes more wine:T

Joking aside, I will keep at it.

    LOL ;)

I wouldn't rely too much on MFP. I once put my details in it to break down the nutritional values of what I ate so I could adjust the macros of my diet. It also gave me a ridiculously low amount of 1200 calories per day which would barely satisfy my BMR (what you need just to live) let alone provide sufficient energy to complete my workouts ;)

It's useful for getting an idea of the breakdown of your food so you can ensure its more balanced but that's about it.

been doing the alternate day fasting diet since January 6th - had a couple of weeks off in April for Holiday and have had a few weekends where i haven't bothered ..today saw me weighed at the gym and i have lost 5 stone now....70.4lbs...I have tried every diet under the sun before and always gave in or got bored..the motivation now from seeing so much weight go is immense...the joy of buying clothes from a normal range in store again after years of buying online only...as i say i fast every other day rather than twice a week so sometimes 3 days sometimes four - but i have never really caved in on a fast day - sometimes i go over the 600 calories by the odd hundred but its usually for something healthy such as fruit...i keep a food diary of everything i eat along with the calories i use the myfitness pal website and app...on a normal day i still restrict my calories slightly - to the equivalent of whats necessary to lose 1-2lb per week...go for it - i can vouch it works

Wow, I think that is absolutely amazing, very well done, sounds like you have worked very hard at this.

Gained a pound this weeks weigh in, but I am not panicking as I have also gained 1.5" on my upper arm, 2" on my thigh and 1.5" on my hip mesurement while my waist has stayed the same, so it is either water or muscle, or a blip.

It is great to hear how everybody else is going! 3rd fasting day today. I varied my lunch menu today which was nice but I am feeling hungry now. I'm going to wait until 6.30pm before starting dinner. I keep myself going by knowing that I had some homemade oaty biscuits that are delicious and I'll be tucking into to them tomorrow!! I've been doing this a week tomorrow so I'll weigh tomorrow, interested to see what the result will be. I've measured my waist and I've lost 2 inches in a week. Amazing!

I thought with this diet you ate normally 5 days a week and it is only 2 where you restrict to 500 calories? Is 1200 really normal for you?

No, not always that low but I did start cutting out bread and potatoes and nibbling between meals a few months ago. I think I can keep my cals low as I love veg salad and fish meals or couscous. But I am only losing a lb a week and not many inches. It may be me but I think I should try to change my diet to a permanently healthy one, I am also lazy so stir fry veg is quick too:T
