5:2 diet

I was dreading weighing myself this morning, as on Wednesday I had a KFC and then a McDonalds yesterday  Thought I would have put at least something on, but I've lost a pound! I was really pleased.
Fast day tomorrow, and I'm planning on doing another two next week, as I'm off on holiday a week tomorrow, so doubt I'll be doing much fasting!0 -
I'm really pleased to have gotten through my first fast day! It got a bit hard towards the end of the day as I had a headache but I've been suffering for weeks so not going to connect the two together. I weighed this morning and had 'lost 3lb' which is fascinating although I don't imagine it will all stay off after tonights curry! Next fast day is Monday so we'll see if that feels easier. I didn't wake up hungry and I had enough energy to mow the lawn and clean the car inside and out. Wow! (I'm sure that is a positive mental attitude rather than one fast day!)0

Ermmm weight gain doesn't quite work like that“You can please some of the people some of the time, all of the people some of the time, some of the people all of the time, but you can never please all of the people all of the time.”0 -

Headaches plus weight loss could equal dehydration and water loss rather than fat loss.
There's such a huge variation with weight loss which is why I don't encourage clients to weigh themselves. It could be due to water, fat or muscle loss.“You can please some of the people some of the time, all of the people some of the time, some of the people all of the time, but you can never please all of the people all of the time.”0 -

Thanks; I do know that. It was more psychological than anything. Are you actually following the 5:2 Diet? From the past couple of things you've posted it seems kind of like you're not. Not quite sure why you'd be posting here if you're not though...:cool:0 -

For research purposes“You can please some of the people some of the time, all of the people some of the time, some of the people all of the time, but you can never please all of the people all of the time.”0 -
Does this ''diet'' slow down your metabolism?
Any good vegetarian 5:2 cookbooks anyone could recommend?
it should not slow down your metabolism if done properly
Just stick to around under 500 Cals a day on fast days if you are female, 600 if you are male. Check spark recipies website and you can use the built in search to find vegetarian recipes under whatever Calories you want to look for.The truth may be out there, but the lies are inside your head. You are of course completely entitled to your opinion.
However, human metabolism is such a complex subject that calling this a calorie reduction diet is an over simplification.
That is true, everyone reacts differently for diets and, if it works for you, all the better!I'm a scientist too but I study shellfish not people lol! I do think that in general, the calories in-calories out general advice seems to work (anecdotally) whether that be cutting back calories every day or only on certain days.

Also, I am in the "whole or nothing" state of mind, so previously on a diet, I would either stay completely away from the bad food or go for it in some uncontrolled manner thinking, well, if I'm breaking the diet, might as well do it with style.
On the 5:2 I find I can have my cake and eat it. Just not all in the same day.:DI lost my job as a cricket commentator for saying “I don’t want to bore you with the details”.Milton Jones0 -
I've just completed my second fast day! Was far easier the second time and I honestly never knew I could feel full on 500 calories - I almost couldn't finish dinner! This is a curious regime but I'm going to stick to it. I saved some calories today so I'm enjoying a nice cup of tea in front of the tv. My next fast day is Thursday.0
