    Hi All!

Another newbie here! First fast day today and have so far had around 200 cals, going to have some chicken with vegetables in a bit, feel surprisingly ok! Just realised though I didnt weigh myself this morning to see what my start weight would be so will do that in a minute!

Went to the gym this morning and burnt around 250 cals there, plus did some weights etc so feeling hopeful!

I found yesterday surprisingly difficult, going to have to do some research on some better meals for next week! Managed to get to 554cal, not great, but not the biggest muck up I guess! Will be holding off eating til later on Thursday, I think that was my biggest problem!

Does this diet help reduce slight belly fat?

Thats my biggest burden at the moment :(

I used to have a toned flat stomach but its disappeared :(

I do wish people would stop referring to this as a DIET. Partly to blame, I suspect, for the misleading title of the book that was published on the back of the scientific research performed in the original programme.

As far as I recall, Dr Michael Moseley originally set out to do this experiment to determine whether fasting had a significant impact on specific health markers, such as diabetes, cholesterol levels etc which increase the risk of cardiovascular disease.

The impetus for carrying out this investigation was down to the Indian guy who was still running marathons at the age of 100 years and they examined his lifestyle, including diet. It was discovered that regular periods of fasting may have contributed to it.

The fact Dr Moseley also experienced a decrease in body mass, predominantly visceral fat but also some adipose fat was lost, was merely a side effect. He never sat out to do this as a weight loss exercise.

It's a shame that "diet" as in "the food you normally eat" has been taken over as shorthand for "a weight loss diet". Some people have started using "way of eating" rather than "diet" but that has the unfortunate acronym of WOE.

But is it something you're happy to continue with permanently as a lifestyle choice? If not, when you eventually revert to old habits you will regain all the weight you lost, plus more.

There is no such thing as a 'quick fix' or 'magic weight-loss formula'. The only way to lose weight and keep it off is to make permanent lifestyle changes which means eating healthy food and exercising more.

@totheleft I was a 42" waist before I started this Diet and am now down to 38" and 37" if I pull the tape measure tight:D

I think people mix up the term Diet which is what you wouild eat all the time and Dieting when you cut your food down for periods of time
So I am hoping to this will be my Diet for the long term and not just a Dieting Fad :)
