Did two FD last week but went crazy on the off days. Due to just general wore downess. Some soul searching and feel the anger/motivation urge again. Month end going to be busy as at work, got to return 2 job leads and follow up on another.

I did have a 'woo, I actually look quite hot' day today, which is always a nice feeling.

5 weeks to lose 11 lbs, GAME ON.

Only had 365 cals so far today, wondering what to have. Better than some of my fast days when I have struggled to stay on target and had to ask for support here.

I had a few cals left, so had a naughty 2 squares of dark chocolate and a coffee, something I rarely have but left behind by the grandkids:eek: now I feel bloated! I also put a jug of cold lemon and ginger tea in the fridge with slices of lemon and sipped that all day and it was lovely, so much so that I will do it on a normal day.

    Hello everyone,

May I join in? Like many people I have been a yoyo dieter over the years. However the last 5 years or so I have put weight on and have found it really difficult to shift. I've done SW before, but find it quite expensive with their weekly charges.

My daughter is getting married next year and really want to shift 2 or 3 stone (3 would be ideal) so I can go from a size 16 to 10/12.

I'm also inspired by others' stories on here, I 've read most of the thread. I had a FD on Saturday and again yesterday. I had 250 cals morning and again in the evening with just water or herbal tea in between. I'd like to kick start the loss by doing more than the 5:2 and will have another FD on Thursday and again on Saturday I think. Do you think there is a better chance of losing more weight sooner this way?

  • First 'proper' fast day today.
I had green tea and skimmed cappucino this morning.
Green salad for lunch, and have just had an apple.

Planning on a stuffed sweet potato for dinner.

Have felt ok most of the day, but am really feeling it now. I think late afternoon until dinner is going to be the most challenging time for me. Things get quiet at work and theres nothing to think about apart from where the biscuits are!

Will be interesting to see how I get on in the morning. I'm planning on going swimming before work, and don't normally have breakfast until afterwards. Will take it easy and see how I get on.

Spirit - I'd be careful about doing to many in a week. My (very unscientific) understanding is that it can lead to a change in metabolism. Basically to little food, to often, makes a body think it needs to hang on to the supplies it has. Whereas 2/3 fasts a week keeps mixing it up, and avoids that problem.
I'm sure someone will be along to correct me if I'm wrong!

Yes, more you fast the more weight you lose. he reason its 5:2 is for stickability. The longer the fast the more benefit, however the longer the fast the more likely you are to cave and eat crap, so short 1 day fasts were devised.

    Thanks everyone,

I had planned to fast today but think I will do that tomorrow instead and then do another fast on Saturday and then again on Monday.

You might like to check out the Johnson's up and down diet (via good old Google) as I believe that is alternate day fasting, and see what you think.

Morning all - not been able to do more than 1 FD a week for the last couple of weeks but doing one today & hope to get another in on Friday to get me back on track. Had too many meals out (very nice though!) due to vistors, birthdays etc.
I had to go to the Doctors this morning for the reults of my annual blood test. All functioning correctly but best of all - TA DA! Cholesterol DOWN from 6.7 last year to 5.6 this year. I still have about 1/2 stone to go on 5:2 but I'm SO pleased with this result as both my parents and all my grandparents had heart & circulatory probs.
    5:2 WORKS!!!
Have a good FD everyone :)
Small victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle

Saw some folks I hadn't seen in a while this week and was asked if I'd had a gastric band fitted. Part joking ... but clearly something's working.

Down a lovely round 20 pounds as of this morning.

Fast day for me today and had a tomato, lentil and spinach curry soup for lunch, which is based on the spicy tomato and lentil soup but with curry powder and spinach, which made it about 136kcal.
This evening have based my meal on this balti though will use white fish and will add another tin of toms as didnt seem enough sauce for 4 meals, and of course will add some spinach again.
I like to prep my diet meals for the week or even two weeks in advance.
Following horizon 5-2 started 28/01/13 target where I am now ish :)
Maintaining now as DW doesn't want my legs to get any skinnier :D
    Total Loss=41.6lb
