Weigh in yesterday and lost a 1lb. Can't figure out how as I woke up last Saturday with a cold. Felt really low for the rest of the week and ate whatever I wanted whenever I wanted it. I thought I would have to play catch up next week but I still lost weight!"Sometimes life sucks....but the alternative is unacceptable."0

My TDEE (total daily energy expenditure) is now down to 1577 calorie max a feed day, making my fast day 395 calories at 25% of feed days. Sounds low but I find it really do-able having dropped sugar and have far fewer carbs like bread or cake or biscuits now, just don't fancy them so much. I suppose I'm losing the 'sugar habit' at lasts- hurrah! I have also lost 1.5 stones since January so it's definitely working at around 1lb a week. I fast on Monday and Thursday and it works well. Good luck everyone :0):hello:0

While we're rubbishing theories I don't agree with "must drink x amounts of water" Wasn't that an Evian market campaign? It totally disregards that water comes in many forms, fruit and vegetables for instance.
Its very easy to tell if you're getting enough water, Go to loo. If your urine isn't crystal clear you need to drink more water. Whether this is one glass or two litres your body will tell you.
This is a handy guide, it dose not need to be totally clear, the colour of pale straw is fine, and if you have taken a multi vitamin or a b-complex it's going to be bright golden yellow. Overhydration is not good for you though it's not as common as dehydration. The truth may be out there, but the lies are inside your head. Terry Pratchett

It's all about listening to your body and working out what's best for you, although I appreciate not everyone can do this, hence needing advice and guiding in the right direction. And the advice can be extremely confusing and contradictory. I was watching that programme the other night - Fat Family Tree(?) - and was horrified at the advice being given, especially from a GP, although it resembled typical NHS guidelines which are so far outdated now and completely wrong. It gave out all the wrong messages. No wonder obesity rates are increasing.
There is no such thing as a "fat gene", it's all hormone driven and obesity interferes greatly with how those hormones work. As nutritionists, all we can do is keep plugging away at correcting the bad advice and hope the message eventually gets through.
There are some dietitians, consultants and GP's I know who are taking on board recent research models and contemporary ideals but I fear it will be a long time before the NHS adopts them, if ever. After all it is largely driven by the Food Industry and Pharmaceutical companies which have a vested interest in maintaining a poor diet amongst the population
Low fat hard cheeses have extra whey added instead of plain carbs, so they are an exception in my opinion, less fat more protein, though they do go crumbly faster. Though as my diet is pretty plant strong I am always looking for protein sources. The truth may be out there, but the lies are inside your head. Terry Pratchett

Morning all, fast day today. As the weight loss is slow but gradual, should I stick to 500 cal or lower it because as the weight comes off the daily calories to loose weight comes down! What is everyone else doing. Don't want to tho0

I am fasting today as well. I am now drinking black tea or balck coffee until I get home from work, a liquid amino drink (vile) before cardio class at the gym then a meal in the evening. The truth may be out there, but the lies are inside your head. Terry Pratchett

Tomorrow I shall be firmly back on the wagon. I've not fasted since 18th May now. It was my Birthday last Monday so cake coupled with going to visit the parents from Thurs-Sun has meant I just haven't had the opportunity to fast. I hate to think what the damage is, but onwards and downwards. I did fit in a 24 mile bike ride on Saturday though, which I'm chuffed with.0

Only had 365 cals so far today, wondering what to have. Better than some of my fast days when I have struggled to stay on target and had to ask for support here. The truth may be out there, but the lies are inside your head. Terry Pratchett
