I've also just started the 5:2 after scoffing about the insanity of it a few months back :o A friend of mine has been doing it and has had some excellent results. I also bought the Michael Mosley book which has re-educated me!

Today was a Fast day so I've had two coffees with sweetener and skimmed milk, gallons of fruit tea, half a galia melon, a Ryvita fruit crunch with a wee tsp of jam (while my tea was cooking) then I had some oven-baked smoked haddock, 30g of triple mix rice (wild, brown and red) and loads of steamed broccoli. However, I didn't realise that smoked haddock is so much higher in calories than plain haddock so I've gone about 60 cals over.

I'm feeling quite hungry but that's me just thinking I'm hungry - I only finished my tea about 45 minutes ago! I'll have another cup of fruit tea then an early night.

I've only got a stone to lose thankfully.

Fast Day for me today as didn't do it on Bank Holiday, lentil soup bulked up with spinach for lunch and fish curry bulked up with spinach again for dinner.
Anyone seen the Pizza Express addition to its menu for 5-2 dining out, I think I'd rather dine there on a non fast day, I mean I have 5 to choose from :D
Following horizon 5-2 started 28/01/13 target where I am now ish :)
Maintaining now as DW doesn't want my legs to get any skinnier :D

Thanks Chickvic and elletee for your words of encouragement :)

Well, the first day of fasting hasn't been that bad at all, even though i was humping wheelbarrows full of concrete rubble from the back garden to the front garden this morning, swept the patio and washed the car without getting the shakes once.....result!

I decided it would be better for me to start eating no earlier than 12 noon, because I know if I start earlier all my 'rations' would be gobbled up to quick in the day and I would be in danger of knorring off my own arm by 4pm!

I made a veg soup whizzed up in the blender with some chicken that came to 450 cal, which left me 50 cals for some milk for 2 mugs of tea, now 2 mugs of tea a day for me is extreme rationing:eek: I did drink some fruit tea and hot water and lemon, but it's just not the same....you can't beat a good cup of char:coffee:

One thing I did discover about myself today is how many times I absent mindingly (is that how you spell it? ) went to put food in my mouth without thinking, fortunately I stopped it in the nick of time :A this is some thing I'll have to be aware of on the non fasting days, otherwise all my good work will be undone quicker than you can say Krispie Kreme.....as the saying goes Little Pickers Wear Bigger Knickers:rotfl:

Hope everyone has had a good on the road to good health and slimmness.

    x
What if every single day I did everything within my capability........What could I achieve in a day? a week? a year? 5 years?

.... by tea i mean dinner (evening meal). i forget most people from other places say dinner.

I say Tea but to GF (from an Irish Family) tea is a cuppa and, a bickie or toast, or cake before bedtime (To me that would be supper). She is a coventry kid so should know better!

Anyway said GF made me a realy nice bake with onion, cauliflower and broccoli and a "cheese" sauce made from a rue and Tesco own brand smoked vegan "cheese", with a sliced tomato on top - 197 Calories a portion for my Tea last night, she had potato wedges and peas and I had peas on the side.

Hello and welcome to the new 5:2ers.

I've felt a bit meh this past week. Only doing 5:2 instead of my usual 4:3 but if I'm honest I think I've hit a 'wall'. I just feel like I can't be bothered with it anymore. I've felt ok today (having a fast day) and just had an omelette with salad but I'm getting a bit bored with it.

Has anyone else felt like this? I'll carry on until I go to Paris but it's definitely starting to make me feel a bit fed up.

When I felt like that I changed to 16/8 IF for 2 weeks just to have a change of pace, and at the end I was really ready to go back to 5:2. I also lost 2lbs after my first fast back, having only maintained my weight on 16/8. A change IS as good as a rest it seems!

Hmm I did think of doing that but I've still got 14lbs I want to lose. I'm probably just feeling a bit grumpy because I'm full of cold tbh and when I get like that all I want is comfort food. :o

Will see how I feel next week. I might just go back to 5:2 instead of 4:3 so it doesn't feel as much.

Finally, I've managed to catch up with the thread after being away for a few days.

Welcome all newbies!:T It's great to see so many joining in -best of luck, you will certainly find loads of support here:)

I see there have been some fantastic weight losses again, while I have been missing:T Well done everyone.

I missed Saturday's weigh in and will wait as usual until next Saturday. I didn't fast bank holiday Monday so fasted yesterday instead and am also fasting again today:eek: because we are going out for dinner tomorrow. I am finding 2 days in a row pretty difficult though. Particularly because I have now picked up DHs chest infection and I went for rather a long swim last night, so today I feel a bit washed out.

DH wasn't too keen for me to fast again today, so I have promised I will hold on for as long as possible but if it gets too much I will concede defeat:( At least I will have managed at least 40 hours and that will have to do for this week. I don't think I will try fasting two consecutive days again though.

I have a 25k cycle event on Saturday, so that should help to knock a bit more off and we did a couple of 5 mile walks while we were away, so I am really hoping the scales won't be too horrible to me.

Here is a list of my naughtiness over the bank holiday which should make you all feel loads better (but it was my birthday as well:o)

    1) A Takeaway Chicken Curry
    2) Lots of olives and breadsticks
    3) Sweets, Chocolate and crisps (too many to mention)
    4) Fish & Chips
    5) Wine
    6) Lardy Cake:eek: and the most enormous chocolate eclair ever.
I did eat some salad as well :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Looks like Saturday will be an interesting weigh in.

Keep up the brilliant work everyone!!:T

    Hello,

    Can I join you all?

I'm on my fourth week now, 6:1 for the first two weeks and 5:2 last week. Today is my first fast day this week and it's a bit of a struggle, I keep having to pep talk myself into not eating so I'm reading through this thread for motivation :)

Really looking forward to my tea tonight!

Get hold of some proper miso if you can, whenever I have a cold it really helps as a soup base and it has negligible calories.
