For the actual weight loss, has to be the one you always use. But for the actual weight I'd go with the doctors, well that would be unless it made you heavier :D

Righto makes sense. I don't know whether to buy some traditional scales or carry on using the one's I've got with the new knowledge in mind when it comes to weighing myself in future.

All in all the docs vs mine make a 6lb difference. Which means I don't have as much to lose to get to 140lbs as I thought :D

I have gained a pound in weight this week apparently - but lost an inch off my waist.
I will treat it as a blip.

I'd rather have the inch off tbh! I'm sick of my measurements hardly moving now :(

Lost another 1.5lbs today so a grand total of 6.75lb lost so far.Ideally like to lose another 8lbs before my holiday in July.

Out of interest, does anyone know if mechanical scales are generally more accurate than electronic? I just can't stop wondering that's all if it is my scales that are wrong or if the doctor's weren't on 0 when I got on (just got on without looking).

I mean 5/6lbs out seems quite a lot. My scales are always in the same position in the bathroom when I get on them but when I experimented by moving them to different spots it gave different readings.

    What do you think?

You'd have to say electronic are more reliable, but try and find another different set to get further reading and go with the majority.

It's confusing tbh. I don't know if it's all just a matter of personal preference but when I have a look online one site can say mechanical over electronic and one can say the opposite.

Thanks Eliza, and sorry for the stupid question but there seems to be a few different books, could you point me towards the right author?

    Thanks a lot!

Sorry for the late reply karie. Yes the book I have is the one 1940sGal quoted. I found it very imformative:)

Well now it's confession time, because both DH and myself have put ON 2.1 pounds over the past 2 weeks. Bit disappointed really, but we were on holiday for the bank holiday and it was also my birthday. So I will try not to focus on this blip and plod on. We did a 22 mile cycle ride today, so hopefully that will help.

I am always good on fast days, but think it,s the non fast days that I need to be more careful on. The funny thing is, despite all the birthday treats, we have been alot more active over the past 2 weeks, several long walks, swimming and cycling etc. oh well, onwards and downwards ( I hope).

Well done everyone -keep going! Fast day again Monday.

I didn't lose either this week. Expected it, been a bad week, comfort eating mostly on non-fast days. Plus I haven't been to the gym for over a week. Only done mild cardio really.

    A week to forget then!

I have been doing 5:2 for a couple of months now. I found it hard to get through the fasting days for the first few weeks but now I hardly ever feel hungry!

Just after starting I happened to read a book about habits and realized that most of my snacking (especially at work, always had crisps and chocolate to hand) were habits. After reading the book I found it much easier to break the cycle and get rid of the snacks.

I usually plan my fast days on Monday & Thursday. Most days I get by really well but a couple of times around lunchtime I just felt really hungry so I changed it to a normal day and put off the fasting till the next day. I feel much better for doing it and don't feel like I'm failing because I still get the 2 days done :)
