Hello everyone. Myself and my husband have decided to give this a go. My sister started last week and lost 2.5lbs in a week. We are both very over weight and I'm starting to get concerned about diabetes etc. We are going to fast on Tuesday and Thursday as those days are daughter does not eat her evening meal with us. So we are going to get weighed tomorrow morning and I'm going to try and get the book from T**co this afternoon as my sister said it was only afew pounds in there.

Hi everybody, my DH is considering doing the 5:2, I'm more dithering and will probably give WW and tracking another go as that has worked for me in the past. DH is looking for starter advice and because I'd seen this thread he assumed I could easily tell him all he needs to know to get started! Having realised how many pages there are I'm wondering if I can be real cheeky and ask if anyone can point me to a good place to start so we don't have to sit for hours to get through 125 pages! Is there a decent book to look at, or anything on somewhere like youtube? He'd especially like anywhere that has ideas for what to eat on the fast days. He loves salads and has cut back on smothering on them on dressings, but still likes pork pies or chunks of cheese with them which whack the calorie count up. I've suggested chicken breast, or a pork chop with fat trimmed off, or tuna. But if there's anywhere we can look for more ideas he'd appreciate it...and so would I as he'd stop mithering me!!

Arrgh! Back from holiday last night - weigh in this morning 154lb:eek: I'm hoping its 'water retention' due to the fact it was very hot (or it could have been the other fluid I had in copious amounts to counter the heat:rotfl:)
FD tomorrow & I'll weigh first thing & see if there's any improvement :)

Don't worry silvasava same thing has happened to DH and myself this week. I am trying not to think about it too much and fast day is tomorrow. I blame these holidays we really shouldn't go -far too many temptations:rotfl:

I'd recommend The Hairy Dieters book! There are some great recipes including a couple of curries and sweet and sour chicken. Love the idea of eating curry on a fast day ;)

I love that book! It's got some gorgeous stuff in it and lots of recipes under 300cal. Which reminds me, I need to get it back of my hairy biker dad :D

Fast day for me after a 'not as bad as usual' weekend.
The plan is to have a home made 'pot noodle' at about 1 then salad, roasted asparagus and boiled eggs at about 7
Second week and I'm still feeling positive.
    Have a good day all

Hi all. Welcome newbies :). Today is another fast day. I am feeling very grotty and full of cold which I've now had for over a week. Lots to do today so hopefully it will keep me occupied and I won't mither about food. Have done our menu plan this morning. I found that not having a menu plan made it so difficult for me to plan fast days and although DH hates menu planning, I feel I need to.
I am still the same weight and DH is now 13.5 stone. He's done really well and his jeans are hanging off him. His jumpers now fit nicely and he is so much trimmer than he was. Am very pleased he has done this change as I don't think he's at risk of diabetes any longer :)
