i dont find it hard during the day as i never normally eat alot at work anyway but i really miss my big evening meal and having something sweet like a chocolate bar or some biscuits after. :(

Just wanted to pop back on - its been a month since I posted and joined...

I had doubts this would work and doubts that I could do it BUT 4 weeks on I have lost around 10ib and feel much healthier. The fast days are becoming easier and I have noticed I am not hungry I just miss 'meal times'. I have also eaten pretty bad on the other days too with takeaways and big family potato/pasta meals!

I do have the occasional can of pepsi max on my fast days as I feel this beats the sugar craving in the evening. I have also found it easier to go till around 5 without food (just a fruit tea which is growing on me) and having a mahoosive meal in the evening which fills me up till bed. I have enjoyed stirfry's and fresh soups as my meals mainly.

Good luck to everyone just starting and thankyou to everyone's advice!

I'm also on a fast day today. So far I'm feeling pretty good about it all. Skipped breakfast as didn't feel particularly hungry, had some tenderstem broccoli for lunch (25 cals) and I'm planning on saving the rest for a evening meal. Either some homemade minestrone soup or a small portion of pasta. Love seeing what other people eat!

That could be me... soups and massive veg stir-fries! although I should try the diet coke as I find the sweet cravings the only annoyance on my fast days; funnily enough, they only come after my one and only meal.

I've been on it since october now, and this is the first time I've followed a diet for so long; I don't find it taxing at all but rather liberating. I am barely losing weight now, just catching up with excesses during Christmas and Easter; but then as I am only 1kg away from my lean ideal body weight, it's fine!

Looking forward to that maaaasssive stir-fry tonight!

I am not going to pretend to really know what I am talking about as it just doesn't effect me as I very rarely consume fizzy drinks.

The issues I heard around it is.
    1) Empty sweet calories makes you crave more sweet stuff.
    2) Impact on insulin and therefore impact on fat burning etc.

Might be tosh, like I said I don't drink it so never looked deeply into it.

You "heard", and this was enough for you to post. At least I linked to an answer by a qualified health professional.

    Fast for me today.

Had some raspberries, then sushi for lunch and an oat bar. Worked til 7 and got home at 7:45 when I had a cuppa and that's me done for today.

Went to the gym as well and it felt good to get back in to it.

I know I shouldn't but I stepped on the scales when I got home and I think the end of the week will bring good news! Feels like I've been around the 11stone mark for so long so now so when the scale finally dips below that I'll be very happy! :D

I read the abstract from the linked studies and artificial sweetened drinks had a lower effect than naturally sweetened ones , the study was also about REGULAR consumption, not occasional consumption.
But here's one from a team led by a Stanford academic, http://circ.ahajournals.org/content/early/2012/07/09/CIR.0b013e31825c42ee
and another more up to date one, http://circ.ahajournals.org/content/early/2012/07/09/CIR.0b013e31825c42ee
Which contradict the advice you posted earlier, which was not backed up by the links in your posted article.
