Well. not happy at all. Did my official weigh-in this morning only the find the 2lb which had disappeared up to yesterday morning has miraculously reappeared!
No explanation for it either as I've carried on counting the calories over the weekend.
Oh well. It was supposed to be a fasting day today but so far I've had my porridge this morning and just had one of the go ahead yoghurt bars with my coffee.
Think I'll calorie count instead today.0 -
If you weigh yourself every day or even several times a day, you'll see that your weight varies quite a bit. You've probably just caught a higher weight today - a couple of cups of tea in your system, a full bladder or bowel or some water retention because of TOTM will all show up on the scales.
I like to check measurements as well as weight.0 -
Out of interest, does anyone know if mechanical scales are generally more accurate than electronic? I just can't stop wondering that's all if it is my scales that are wrong or if the doctor's weren't on 0 when I got on (just got on without looking).
I mean 5/6lbs out seems quite a lot. My scales are always in the same position in the bathroom when I get on them but when I experimented by moving them to different spots it gave different readings.
What do you think?
I have the same trouble with my electronic scales - depending on where they are they give different readings, so I have to leave them out in the same place. In some ways I prefer electronic scales as they give an more detailed reading so you know to the nearest gram or oz - whereas with manual scales I find I kind of have to guess nearest 1/2 kg or whatever. This means they are open to my interpretation and I find I get carried away as to whether I was looking straight down at the measurement or to the side!
I have lost more weight (1lb/ wk) and I am so pleased as I have had takeaways and treats on some non-fast days, although I am generally trying to eat more healthly. I feel much slimmer and the weight is shifting from my stomach.
Welcome newbies!0 -
Right, book read and I'm starting tomorrow - eek!!
Hoping to get through till lunch on some raspberries and a black coffee.
Then weightwatchers tomato soup in afternoon and the rest of calories in the evening.
Don't have a scales but going to buy one tomorrow as been meaning to for a while, and weigh tomorrow evening.
Here's hoping I survive the day!

Back on the Wagon.
Day 1 of 49 (6 weeks to lose a stone)
Started on a fast day, 300 cals of jerky and cuppa soup. Pretty easy day really.
I eat at lunch for once and it seemed to be easier. Need to man up and wake up earlier so I can get proper gym sessions in, I actually enjoy the gym, I just hate early starts.0 -
Well - after my nasty shock on Sunday morning i weighed myself yesterday before having anything at all - 153lb. FD Yesterday and this morning I'm down to 150.2Lb. I really think that most of it was fluid retention as I'd been bitten by vampire mosquitoes/flies and had quite swollen legs but they've all gone down now! I'll carry on with another FD either Thursday or Friday.
ally18 My weight also goes up & down but over time it does go down although for me its VERY slow as I am so near my goal weight. I don't mind 'cos this is so much easier to do than the faff of calorie counting!Small victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle0 -
First fast day today, so far so good. Got a list of jobs to keep me busy. DH has gone off to work with a small pack lunch about 250 cals. And I have the ingredients for a 250 cal tea.Sorting my life out one day at a time0

Unplanned fast day yesterday - OK I had 620 Calories instead of ≤ 600, but I did a fitness class so I am counting it as one. I would have been well under but I needed a beer (well not needed but wanted badly and I only had a bigish bottle) - Over half yesterdays calories from booze what a bad example I am setting myself
Another 1½lbs off so about 10½lbs of my target (I had given myself until November to do it).The truth may be out there, but the lies are inside your head. Terry Pratchett

Hello all!
I have read all 125 pages of this thread....not all in one sitting tho
I started this diet Thursday and have so far had one FD with tomorrow being my second.
The first FD I went about 50cals over 500 as I was at work and grabbed something from there. Hopefully I burnt more than 50cals at work tho for it to cancel out
Hope you don't mind me joining in and I look forward to losing this weight with you all!
ETA: I was very proud last night when I went to Morrisons and saw the new Cadbury bars at £1.24 and resisted buying one. I stood looking at them, put one in my basket and walked off. Got halfway down the aisle and then went and put it back. Was very proud walking home:coffee:0 -
Hello!
Just read a few pages of the thread - obvs not the whole 125 of them! I'm in the middle of the 5:2 book, and after hearing so much about it, I'm determined to give it a try! I was ill last week, and couldn't eat anything for about 3 days, so I feel like I've already started!
I'm hoping to lose quite a bit of weight (size 16 at the moment, want to be a 10-12) so I'm keeping my fingers crossed! I'm so glad there's a thread about it, as I think I might need the support!0
