zmikeo, that soup looks amazing. Is it the one from the London website? If so I made that 2 weeks ago, it looked much darker and thinner(certainly not as thick and chunky as yours) can I ask which lentils you use? Would also love your recipe for curry too, as I have tried to make curry and it was bland in flavour and I'm having withdrawls from curry (chilli & garlic always tick the boxes for me when on a diet/fast day) Thanks

I love the Hairy Bikers diet recipes, they do a great jalfrezi, sweet and sour chicken and tonight we had Spanish chicken. All less than 500 cal so we usually add noodles/rice/pasta.

Normally. I don;t eat breakfast, never do, then for lunch I have a sandwich or soup or sometimes pasta, but usually a sandwich.

Then dinner is with my husband, just home cooked stuff, dhaal, or meat and veg or similar. We have a takeaway once a week but we have always done that, and have actually been reducing the amount we order.

That's why I've upped the exercise and gone back to yoga (had stopped due to major operation in December) in the hope it will burn more off and kickstart my metabolism.

Maybe you're not eating enough, and slowing down your metabolism? Also Yoga can be making your muscles retain water. Have you measured?

Good luck - hope things start moving for you v soon.

I did 5:2 for 3.5 months and was on a steady plateau so I changed to 16/8 IF for 2 weeks and have just resumed 5:2 and lost 2lbs after yesterday's fast and 1.25 inches off my waist. I can only assume that the change of regime and maintaining that weight for the 2 weeks has made the difference and recommend it.

I too hit a plateau for about 4 weeks - just yoyo'd but stayed around the same. Last FD yesterday before my holiday & I'm down to 147.8Lb. I also felt queasy & headachy all day but put that down to the last vestiges of the cold I'd got. Went to Yoga on a 'catch up class' & my headache eased. Happy bunny today as I don't think my weight has been this low for about 12 years! skintchick try to keep going it will be worth it. - also are you drinking enough 'cos you need loads more than usual on a FD - Good Luck

Hi natbags yes it is the one from the London website though I only had in a bovril stock cube and split the lentils in to half red lentils and half puy lentils and the 100g of zero kcal noodles.
The curry base is from the BBC curry in a hurry so as not using prawns it comes to 100kcal as I add a chilli, I then add I coley 86kcal and today I added 200g frozen spinach 50kcal, and used 50g bulgur wheat 184 kcal making it about 420 kcal for the curry .
I also had room for 80 g squash and some roast garlic so about 45kcal for those two.
The spinach really bulks it out, and may not look to pretty, but was tasty and filling

Been watching this thread for ages but yet to try 5:2, my wife does the cooking and I just eat whats put in front of me so need a kick up the backside to go for it....

Anyway just wanted to say thanks so much for the prawn curry link above... I absolutely LOVE recipes like that, so simple, so few ingredients, cheap to make and really healthy!!!

If only there was a site that only listed those sort or recipes or I could filter recipes like that..... far too many recipes need hundreds of (often expensive) ingredients, take far too much cooking or aren't healthy.

If anyone knows of a site like that or has recipes please do let me know.

Can anyone help with a plateau?

I initially lost 6lbs on this diet but haven;t lost anything since :( I find the fast days make me tired, miserable and headachy so I only want to carry on if i lose weight!

I've been on it 11 weeks this week, and not lost any weight since week 4.

I've started back at yoga in the last two weeks so hoping that might kickstart it again, but does anyone have any tips? I'm going to have to stop in June when I restart TTC so I've not to long to get some more weight off before then.
I stayed the same for a very long time too, but then had quite a few "blow out " sessions so was happy to keep stable.
I started moving down again after starting a new (additional) class at the gym.
Now I'm just getting back to where I was after holiday splurge ().
I think that for most it really works as weight loss diet if your metabolism needs readjusting; if it's in balance and you have very little weight to lose (which i think is your case), it's not so effective?

If you feel tired, miserable and headachy then maybe it's not right for you. I find the fast days easy and I like the control it gives me.

Pardon my ignorance, but what's 16/8? Is it what I'm thinking where you fast for 16 hours then eat a certain amount within 8 hours?

Yes, intermittent fasting has been round for a long time - you'll find several sites about it.
