Well hello :). Today is a fast day after my weekend on cub camp which consisted of fried breakfasts and tinned/jarred food. I had a bit of a dicky tum earlier and DH commented. I think it's because of the amount of junk food which my stomach struggled to handle before this diet and certainly can't handle now!
I didn't know how I'd cope today as it's my birthday and DH and I have spent the whole day assembling scaffolding and ripping down our hall stairs and landing ceiling and replacing it. We will be continuing tomorrow and hope to get at least the ceiling plastered too. Fingers crossed but obviously, tomorrow may turn into a fast day too as we won't have time to stop and eat anything.

zmikeo, that soup looks amazing. Is it the one from the London website? If so I made that 2 weeks ago, it looked much darker and thinner(certainly not as thick and chunky as yours) can I ask which lentils you use? Would also love your recipe for curry too, as I have tried to make curry and it was bland in flavour and I'm having withdrawls from curry (chilli & garlic always tick the boxes for me when on a diet/fast day) Thanks

Hi natbags yes it is the one from the London website though I only had in a bovril stock cube and split the lentils in to half red lentils and half puy lentils and the 100g of zero kcal noodles.
The curry base is from the BBC curry in a hurry so as not using prawns it comes to 100kcal as I add a chilli, I then add I coley 86kcal and today I added 200g frozen spinach 50kcal, and used 50g bulgur wheat 184 kcal making it about 420 kcal for the curry .
I also had room for 80 g squash and some roast garlic so about 45kcal for those two.
The spinach really bulks it out, and may not look to pretty, but was tasty and filling

Hello everyone haven't posted for a while but glad to see everyone doing so well. Even those who have fallen off the wagon I'm sure you'll soon be backon track.

I'm looking for a bit of advise from those who go to the Gym on fast days.

I don't usually combine the two , but due to other commitments I will be today.

My preferred method is to get by all day on coffee and water and use all my calories at dinner. However I don't think thats a good idea for the gym.

My workoot consists of 30 minutes on the treadmill followed by another twenty minutes on the weight machines

So any tips from others that do this? I was thinking maybe have a banana about 30 minutes before or maybe something more substancial at lunchtime?

I go to the gym on my fast days. I've started only eating a dinner in the evening and I've been fine so far, I don't feel an energy slump or anything negative. It sets me up nicely for dinner when I get home. I do about 20 minutes of cardio with 40 minutes of strength training.

Hi, can someone help pls. I have couscous and veg on a fast day and it is easy and yummy but I keep getting confused when measuring. 50g of dry couscous equals what? The amounts keep changing. Ie. 50g tesco dry weight is 135 calls, yet the ready made packets say differing amounts. So what would 50g dry equal when cooked. If this makes sense!! It is driving me mad!!

Assuming you are only cooking it with water the kcal would remain the same, at least that is how I treat it.
Have the same issue with bulgur wheat so am using the kcal that it says on the packet :)

Can anyone help with a plateau?

I initially lost 6lbs on this diet but haven;t lost anything since :( I find the fast days make me tired, miserable and headachy so I only want to carry on if i lose weight!

I've been on it 11 weeks this week, and not lost any weight since week 4.

I've started back at yoga in the last two weeks so hoping that might kickstart it again, but does anyone have any tips? I'm going to have to stop in June when I restart TTC so I've not to long to get some more weight off before then.

Thanks, that was what I have been doing, but the ready mixed packets weight 100g but half a serving weights 130g. So confused when making it from scratch! Anyway I have lost a steady 2lb. So I can't be over indulging:)

Normally. I don;t eat breakfast, never do, then for lunch I have a sandwich or soup or sometimes pasta, but usually a sandwich.

Then dinner is with my husband, just home cooked stuff, dhaal, or meat and veg or similar. We have a takeaway once a week but we have always done that, and have actually been reducing the amount we order.

That's why I've upped the exercise and gone back to yoga (had stopped due to major operation in December) in the hope it will burn more off and kickstart my metabolism.
