I find I am not that hungry after going to the gym. So I skip breakfast have lunch, a boiled egg on ryvita about 1- 1 1/2 hours before going to the gym, low fat cheese and an apple afterwards.
Once I get going I am fine, just drink plenty of water.0 -

I'm looking for a bit of advise from those who go to the Gym on fast days.
I don't usually combine the two , but due to other commitments I will be today.
My preferred method is to get by all day on coffee and water and use all my calories at dinner. However I don't think thats a good idea for the gym.
My workoot consists of 30 minutes on the treadmill followed by another twenty minutes on the weight machines
So any tips from others that do this? I was thinking maybe have a banana about 30 minutes before or maybe something more substancial at lunchtime?
I go to the gym on my fast days - I do have lunch though ... but that is about 6 hours before I go ... and I feel fine (and I do 40 mins of cardio - treadmill/bike/cross Trainer)
I think you should just try it and if you start to feel dizzy/faint stop. But hopefully you'll be fine.0 -
Fast day for me and I finally got to holland& Barrett to get some zero cal noodles .
I put half a bag 100g in my spicy tomato and lentil soup, and must say apart from them being a bit anaemic looking they were a good addition to my soup for only 4 kcal, and I think I feel a bit fuller than if I hadn't had the noodles:D
I also got some frozen spinach to go in my fish curry, so that means this and next weeks fast days meals are sorted and in the freezerFollowing horizon 5-2 started 28/01/13 target where I am now ish
Maintaining now as DW doesn't want my legs to get any skinnier

Wow, your soup looks really nice zmikeo, almost filling! Think I might try those noodles too.
I just popped on to update after my second fast which was on Sunday. Felt much better on the day itself, but today feel the exhaustion I felt on my first fast day.
But it could be a combination of things. I eat more protein than normal on a fast day, I have no added salt, and though I have green tea, I don't have any of my normal tea intake. Maybe i'm triggering a bit of a detox reaction each time. Going to switch to black coffee on fast days so I can eliminate the caffine withdrawal idea and go from there.
It was weigh day today and i'm 3.5lbs down in my first week. Some will go back on as fast day was only yesterday, but that's the lowest number i've seen in 6 months!

Your Soup looks great zmikeo!! I will be having soup later, but I don't think it will be as nice as yours:) because I have been lazy and it's coming out of a tin. I love making HM soup and usually never buy it, but have been a bit busy today.
A fast day here today and another on Wednesday because I am going away on Thursday with DH for my birthday and I can't fast that day!
I need to postpone my weigh in until 11th May -although I have a cycle event that day so it might be a late one.
My wardrobe is a disaster area -not much fits anymore and it was serious enough for me to have to rush out and buy a few new things (any excuse:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:) Seriously though, this dieting could have a serious impact on DHs pocket (not mine you notice:D
Poor DH is not well today having managed to pick up a nasty chest infection. He has started the maintenance mode today, this being his only fast day this week, but I feel a bit sorry for him and tucked a couple of cough sweets in lunch box.
Keep up the good work everyone!!:T I am starving today, but I definitely will NOT cheat!:)Sealed Pot Challenge 7 Member 022 :staradmin:staradmin:staradmin

zmikeo, that soup looks amazing. Is it the one from the London website? If so I made that 2 weeks ago, it looked much darker and thinner(certainly not as thick and chunky as yours) can I ask which lentils you use? Would also love your recipe for curry too, as I have tried to make curry and it was bland in flavour and I'm having withdrawls from curry (chilli & garlic always tick the boxes for me when on a diet/fast day) Thanks0

I've been cycling to and from work on a fast day - I have found that while the cycling was fine, I did feel really hungry for a while after I got home. Today I had my porridge about 30 mins before riding home and it was much better. So I'd advise eating something before exercising."Harry, I'm going to let you in on a little secret. Every day, once a day, give yourself a present. Don't plan it. Don't wait for it. Just let it happen. It could be a new shirt at the men's store, a catnap in your office chair, or two cups of good, hot black coffee."0

First fast say of the week today. Weigh in today, another 1lb lost. I managed to control the non-fast days better last week, but I think there is still room for improvement. Like others have posted, I'm finding fast days much easier.
Zmikeo - I've tried the spicy lentil soup, it's easy to make and tastes nice, it just takes the edge off, . I had it today for lunch. I would imagine the addition of zero noodles would make it more filling.0 -

I wouldn't lift weights on a fast day. You need to rest between weight sessions (48 hours) to recover, so save them for eating days where you have more energy to lift harder.
I occasionally do cardio on fast days, jog for 30 mins etc, I prefer to exercise on an empty stomach, although I know if I do too much I will be too hungry.0
