A fast day for me as well. Had a grapefruit for breakfast and then did an 11 mile run - just about the furthest run I've done this year. Didn't feel hungry when I finished just had to sit down and have a cup of tea. I have read that Grapefruit is good for fasting in that it helps to burn fat/lower insulin. Anyway fasting always seems easier when I start the day with one.
This contrasts with last week when the fast days were quite hard - I don't think it was a coincidence that I didn't run on either. A very tasty chicken casserole with loads of veg for the evening meal tonight has left me feeling fullish and not thinking about food for once.0 -
Another fast day today, it is going well, even with colleagues bringing in "treats". So far I'm still finding it very easy to stay within my calorie limit on fast days, and resist things that would send me over. I think it is knowing that I can have them the next day, if I choose.
This week I'm going to focus on getting the non-fast days under control, I went overboard last week, resulting in a gain of 10 oz, I'm only surprised that it wasn't more..
Well done to all who are fasting today (the day's almost over), :j good luck to those fasting tomorrow.0 -
Hi all - well, nice meal yesterday for DH's birthday but I resisted a pudding! Truth to tell I've had a nice dose of tonsilitis given to me & it hurts to swallow so I'm making today an FD (just wondering how many calories in the sachets of Lem Sip!) I'm just pottering as I feel so sluggish.Small victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle0

Hi Fellow 5:2ers...
I had a mini health check at work, the first since I started on the FD and I am delighted that I have the lowest blood sugar levels I have ever had (and yes, I presume it is to do with the fasting). My blood sugar was always at the high end of the healthy range (5 to 5.5 mm/l) but has dropped to 4.2 mm/l.
All my other numbers were spot on too , either middle or low end of the helathy range (although I can't quite believe I have the resting heart rate of an athlete...)

1.5 lb loss this week:j so worth keeping going after I was disappointed last week. Thank you to all those who took the time to reply. I confess I still haven't measured myself- it is on my list of things to do this evening.0

Well done! :T0 -
Dealing (not v. well!) with my first 5/2 setback. First 10 weeks - 20 diet days, 10lbs lost - OK, not exactly rapid loss, but so proud of myself.
Last 10 days - 3 diet days - have somehow managed to put on weight.
I know things plateau. I know if you lose weight as slowly as I do then a bit of a blip in non-diet day eating (OK, a blowout 3 days with friends the weekend before last) might have what could be termed an adverse result.
I'm visibly slimmer - people have even begun to comment. But my weight has gone up! How could this be?

Just started this diet today, skipped breakfast as was busy pottering about. Lo cal cup a soup (69cals) for lunch, then dinner of a fillet steak, 5 button mushrooms, 2 baby sweetcorn spears and 5 of so green beans......does this sound about right calorie wise?OH had steak and salad but I don't like salad...Debt-free...and staying that way...0
