    Hi All
Serial dieter and lurker here trying the 5-2 what to see what happens
I need to eat, and not just eat I need warm spicy food to trick my mind I am stuffing my face:rotfl:
SO I have my fast day (Tues and Thurs for me) and I have had half a bag of "dry" stir fried veg for breakfast with chilli, garlic, ginger and a splash of soy... the same again for lunch but with 60g of cooked leftover beef ontop and a yoghurt
Then plan for tea tuna salad....
Do you think this is okay? Moreover any suggestions for food that takes a while to eat but costs a few calories??
    Cheers for any replies

I've bought those but not tried them. What does everyone do with them? Eat them as they are of fry? Boil? Add something to them? :)

I suspect they would be quite unappetising on their own.

Last week, I made spagetti and meatballs with a spicy vegetable sauce (mostly tomatoes/ mushroom/ courgettes / peppers/onions/ chilli) for the rest of the family; I had the same sauce with the zero noodles (stayed clear of the meatballs... too greasy!)
    It was very palatable!

    Think so.
    It's only different branding.
Basically looks like noodles, tastes of nothing and provides something to chew on!:rotfl:

    Morning all

Havne't posted for a while, but have been sticking to the 5:2 way of life and exercising regularly ... never thought I'd be able to say that lol and the weight is slowly creeping down. I have a friend doing Cambridge at the moment, and it's really hard seeing her losing 2 stone in the same time it's taken me to lose just over a half. But funnily it's not so hard when I'm eating a yummy pizza or going for a meal out. Plus, odds are she'll put it all back on when she stops (I hope she doesn't, and will try and get her to come on 5:2).

And I know it's a bit late but ElizaBunny I just wanted to say congrats for not only fasting while on hols, but also losing weight - you're my inspiration :)

Good luck to all fasters today - and enjoy those cals all who aren't! :)

    x

Thanks elletee!!:A I have been a bit quiet lately but am still here plodding along.

A fast day for me today and I caved in at lunch time and had a small tangerine and a coffee with a bit of whitener in it, so that will get knocked off tonight's dinner.

I can't say I find fast days any easier -or any harder for that matter, it's just a case of 'oh well let's get it done'. I think I have lost another half inch from my waist this week and all my clothes are looking generally baggy. However, I have a weigh in after 2 weeks on Saturday and I never feel that confident -although it has been ok in the past.

I think small weight losses each week are so much better for us, no baggy skin (hopefully), no putting it all back on again because we lost it too quickly (hopefully) and the thing is -which I think is the best bit, is it is just so do-able. I am never very good on my non-fast days, although I do eat healthily and don't binge but I do cave in to the occasional treat or two and I love home made bread.

I also love cheese but have not had so much recently and a couple of days ago when I indulged, I couldn't sleep for indigestion and heartburn -so maybe my body is telling me something. A similar thing happens when I have red meat, so I find I am cutting down on these generally.

The thing is, I believe that even if I have lapses and don't do as well some weeks as I think I should have, if I stick to this plan I am certain I will get there in the end -no matter how long this takes. The saddest thing now would to give up because of disappointments.

Well done everyone, you are all so inspirational! I love reading the posts and seeing how everyone is doing:T I am just reaching the 12 week mark and if I can keep up with my previous weight losses -I will have lost 4 stone after a year -and I'm not trying THAT hard:rotfl::rotfl:

PS For those of you interested in new recipes and able to download books. I have just downloaded 'The Fasting Day Cook Book', which has recipes form 50-500 calories. I think this will be very useful

I think you have the right idea Shazzle. Lots of Veg and if you can take it, lots of flavourings. It's something that seems to work for me. I like Grapefruit at Breakfast as I've heard/read is good at breaking the fat down and is low in calories.

Any root veg is good, as they are all bulky and will fill you up. I would avoid parsnips though as they release their sugars too quickly Soup is good too.

I rinsed mine in warm water, then added to my thai curry/soup type thing and cooked for about 5 mins.

I've read a LOT about these, and a lot of people say dry frying them is the best way to not get the rubbery texture ... although I didn't notice anything wrong with the texture :)

Going to try them with a bolognese next :T
