The problem I have is this, on using my fitness calculator, I always come under the daily recommended amounts except protein, where I go just over. Is this ok because I read in one post that you need to lower protein intake! Am I wrong?

I notice when I use MyFitnessPal that I can often be 'over' on the daily recommended intake of protein, but personally I don't think there's such a thing as too much protein.

I prefer to keep an eye on my sodium/salt intake over anything else and to keep those as low as possible.

Generally I've eaten really well of late, and I don't let what myfitnesspal says to me bother me if I know I've eaten stuff that's good for me.

Though today I've been naughty. I was craving a bag of peanut M&Ms so I got some, then I had a Crunchy when I got home after seeing them in the fridge  Very naughty indeed! The first big slip up I've had in ages.

Fast day tomorrow though. Going to try to go right through to lunch before I have something. I usually have something mid morning at work but I've an early finish tomorrow so I'll have something before I leave then i'll be off to the gym, which I find always helps. Might have to get something from M&S for dinner :)

As long as syou are lifting or doing hard conditioning you are right, otherwise your kidneys might end up disagreeing.
what happens if you take too much?

Protein isn’t particularly dangerous, but an over-consumption of protein may be associated with:

1.Weight gain. Excess calories from excess protein may be stored as body fat.
2.Intestinal irritation. Too much protein has been linked to constipation, diarrhea and/or excessive gas.
3.Dehydration. Experts advise drinking a half gallon of water per 100 grams of protein.
4.Seizures. Seizures have been linked to excess protein intake – but only if insufficient amounts of water are consumed.
    5.Increase in liver enzymes.
6.Nutritional deficiencies. Just focusing on protein intake causes some high-protein dieters to overlook other nutrients. Ensure that your diet is balanced and nutritious.
7.Risk of heart disease. This is a bit misleading. A healthy high-protein diet is not associated with heart disease. But if you are getting all of your protein from unhealthy sources that are loaded in unhealthy fats, obviously the risk for heart disease will increase.
8.Kidney problems. Some believe that high protein and low carbohydrate diets – when done long term – can possibly cause kidney issues, but more research needs to be done.

I'll tell you what's really good to help you stick to your fast day.

Its when you step outside the back door to get the washing and next door's cat has done a very large loose crap on the back door mat. Its when you step in it without noticing and you tread it into the house. Its when you have to throw away your shoes and you clean it up with toilet wipes and get it on your hand. Its when you have to pick up the back door mat and put it in a bin liner to throw out and you're retching as you do it. Its when you have to clean the bottom of the door frame and you're spraying the whole area with bleach over and over again when the whole area feels contaminated.

Its when you wash your hands over and over and when you put something in your mouth with your hands you remember and have to spit it out.

Fasting is a doddle today. :(

_pale__pale_ an extreme way of putting you off your food - and I actually thought (just for a fleeting minute!) - hmm, I need something to jolt me back into being good! I haven't been at all good lately. I start off thinking "this will be a fast day" and being sensible all day, then after dinner I get the munchies and don't fight the impulse :o:mad:

    aha...:naughty:
That's why you need this thread!:D
Just tell us when you are fasting and we'll make sure you fight the urges!

I'm OK on fast days; it's on my day off that I tend to give in. But then again, it's the first time in a long time that I look at photos of me in my swimmers and don't think they need to be deleted right away!

Thanks for the reply. So, so long as I stick within the daily guide lines it should be ok then? I had 2 WW yogurts and they counted as half my daily intake!! It is really hard to stick to the right amount. I eat them most days cos I like them, now they suddenly feel bad for me!

Good job I lift then! :o

Well I said today I would wait til lunch but the thought of the tomato soup I took was so unappetising I just didn't bother.

So I've made it to now with nothing all day and am about to have my dinner of chicken and sweet potato. Have felt hungry obviously but overall no more than usual. Just goes to prove that I can go this long without food and when I've eaten around lunch time on other fast days it's simply been force of habit I suppose.

Feels great knowing I've got my full 500 calories toward the end of the day :D
