  • I have just started trying this week. Does anyone else who exercises on a fast day get twitchy muscles? I find it hard to get to sleep as muscles don't feel relaxed, feel like I need to stretch or move.

I feel your pain, yesterday on a fast day someone brought in cakes and biscuits for their birthday and put them on the desk next to mine. Luckily it was only for the last hour of the day, or I would have given in.

I only do gentle exercise on fast days, a 20 minute swim. I haven't noticed any strange effects, I do find it slightly harder to get to sleep though, I'm HUNGRY!

I experienced that when I first started fasting, so did several of my friends also doing the 5:2. However with us that phase has passed so my suggestion would be to keep yourself busy and just go to bed a bit later.

I always found I was hungrier after a swim, but running always suppresses my appetite so is great for a fast day if you have the energy.

As for being hungry I still feel that - especially just before going to bed. Howver lots of water helps as does low calorie soup which will fill the stomach up and slow down the rate at which food passes out of it.

On fast days I am out like a light. Though often up to visit the bathroom a couple of times during the night.

    I've been Money Tipped!
Hiya... Back from holidays where I am ashamed to say I ate like a pig... And put on 2 kg!
But, while still at home with the kids I've managed one fast day without problems and I'm on the second one today. Went to the gym and did a body pump class followed by meta it. Although it was hard work, the enormous benefit of exercise while fasting is that I no longer feel cold, even long after the gym session.

I'm also setting myself a challenge today as I'm cooking ahead for a diner party tomorrow... Will try very hard not to lick the chocolate pave bowl!!!!

Did a fast day yesterday as DD came on Wednesday (normal fast day). I seem to be stuck at 10st 11lbs, whilst I am happy with that weight, (from 13.5st) I was hoping to lose a few more lbs as we are going on holiday in 2 weeks. Still never mind! Now I know that I can easily get the anticipated gain off easily. Hope that makes sense!
Aren't we all doing well? Good luck everyone on a fast day.

They do get easier the more you do. Drink plenty of water it could be dehydration.

Well I'm happy to report that the rest days clearly paid off! 3lbs lost this week! :D

That's me down to 160lbs. I've said I'd like to get down to 140 by the time I go to Paris which is 9 weeks today, and I think it's certainly doable!
