1940s Gal - I must try that highland strew - do you weigh the ingredients or just guess? I dont have any scales as I usually guess amounts when cooking. Well done on the progress - I am aiming for 1/2 to 1lb a week loss.

Fast day today - they are getting easier. I enjoy reading what other people eat on their's - today I've had a salad with rocket, cucumber, lettuce leaves, a bit of low fat feta and low-fat dressing; plus an apple. Later I will have tuna and low-low fat mayo on one slice of toast with more salad leaves, plus a low-cal hot choc.

Feels ages since my last fast day - it was only last Thurs. I track what I eat each day anyway as on non-fast days I'm not very good at knowing whether I have eaten about right or over-endulged - its only when I type it in I see where I am going.

I used the ingredients she listed (minus celery, hate celery) and put them all into MyFitnessPal which counts the calories for you. It's not 100% accurate but it's close. I weighed the whole batch then divided it in to 4 dishes. The website says hers was 150cals/portion but mine came out at 190. She doesn't say what sausages she used though, I opted for frankfurters.

    Hi all

I've jumped on the bandwagon and decided to give this diet a go. I've looked into it and read up on things and it sounds pretty amazing. I don't want to lose weight as I weigh around 8.5 stone. I just want to feel a healthier! I constantly get IBS and am hoping by doing this it will help.

Yesterday I fasted and felt fine, however, this morning when I woke up I was really weak and lethargic but feel fine now I've eaten.

Thought I would just say hi.

Weirdly, doing 4:3 (Mon, Weds, and Fri) is easier for me than doing 5:2. It's more of a structured week and my brain (and stomach) just seem to accept it more easily.

Good evening everyone, I have read through a little of this thread after being told about this type of diet from a work colleague. I have stood on the scales today and am officially the heaviest I have ever been, I need to lose at least three and a half stone so hoping this may be the right kick up the bum for me! Your posts are very inspirational and fingers crossed I can wake tomorrow and have my first fasting day.

I do 4:3 some weeks and 5:2 others. I just see how I feel first thing and whether I am up to what I have planned for the day. At the moment I plan to do a 4:3 week this week (Like you it will be M, W and F) but I may change it to a "sensible day" rather than a fast Day if I feel too low or tired (plan to do a long cycle Thursday).

Today was slightly different from recent fasts in that I did manage to get 3 "meals" in. Roll mop, lettuce, tomatoes and pickled onions for lunch. Cup of Soup late afternoon and then Sausage(just one!), Toms, Onions, Courgettes, Carrots, mushrooms and Red Cabbage this evening. I also managed to get a 4 mile run in and some Yellow Label shopping done.

If you have the time I do recommend lots of vegetables they do make it a lot easier to fast.

Now the good bit, looking forward to breakfast.....

    Photogenic
I am now at the lowest waist size and smallest top size since leaving the army in 1991, but my strength and stamina have improved and I have not lost muscle.

Thanks to everyone for the support and encouragment from here.

  • Another fast day for me today. I've been a bit wary of exercising on fast days apart from a short run first thing. However, I ran to work this morning (about 5 miles) and was worried that I would be hugely hungry - but it's been fine and I've felt the same as on other fast days.

Still not sure about zumba class at the end of a fast day though.
