Well I just had a whole week off, though I still kept to maintenance level or just below on daily eating except one night on the sauce (real ales) where I went 400 odd Calories over my maintenance level but still lost a little off my waist over the week - back on 5:2 tomorow.

Hi guys - not been on here for a while as had lot of illness in house. Hopefully things have all settled now and the sun being out makes everything feel better doesn't it?!

Well I haven't been very strict with the diet for the last 6 weeks but this is the first diet I have ever been on where I haven't instantly put on the weight as soon as I stop doing it!! I have actually stayed at exactly the same weight as my last weigh in 6 weeks ago! This has proven to me that this diet really is a change for life not just for weight loss. I have not been able to binge eat like I used to and although I haven't been recording my food intake I am more conscious of the decisions I make. Although I haven't actually kept to 500 cal fast days I have still been keeping my daily 'fast like' way of eating where I don't eat much for breakfast - just apple or banana and maybe some natural yoghurt - and then balanced eating from about lunchtime onwards.
So I am now feeling inspired to have another go and will try to fast today as I need to start shifting the pounds again cos still got a way to go yet.
Hope this will encourage any of you newbies out there or any that have fallen down a bit like I did.
Now to try and catch up with all the posts I've missed

when I achieve a weight loss and get back to a weight that I maintained for a while. (like 2 years or so), my body seems to say- ok we'll stick at this. It takes quite a while to start losing again.

I wondered about this - I was around 12st 2 for a few years & when I got to that level a little while back there were a couple of weeks when my weight kept bouncing back to it inbetween diet days. I just kept on with the 5/2 though & in the end the diet won through!

I'm not losing weight rapidly, but I've never dieted successfully in my life before so I'm delighted with the 5/2. I have all sorts of ways of looking at my weight loss, so there's always something to celebrate & something to aim for. My celebration today is 9 weeks of 5/2, 9 pounds lost. :j

Anyone else fasting today? How's it going?

I've only had cups of tea today and my legs are feeling a bit shaky. Not anywhere near the extent of stopping me going about my normal business but it's a bit bleugh!

Going to eat just after 6pm - butternut squash and button mushroom curry with brown rice and fat free plain yogurt.

Then tomorrow I can have the cupcake a colleague gave me!

Monday is fast day for me too :) Have managed quite a long and active day on 111 calories so far (noodle soup + a graze light snack!), relieved to say my M+S Count on Us dinner is in the oven (300 cal chicken and mash!) and can't wait to eat it as am very hungry and cold now.

I did a big ''fast day food'' shop yesterday. I've got a very busy week ahead so won't have time to cook so just bought lots of easy oven low cal meals - planning for a 4:3 this week, Mon, Wed + Fri!

A fast day for me today too, helped by the fact that I felt very 'off' this morning, so didn't fancy anything anyway. Bit better this evening and had a healthy soup and prawn stir fry. So that will be about it for today apart from a hot bedtime drink.

Hope all other fasters are doing ok today.:T

  • Fast day for me too today, but a bit cheaty - spent almost all day in bed cos I've been ill the last few days. I've had semi-skimmed in about 5 mugs of tea (200ml - 98 cals) & low-fat plain yogurt (140g - 100cals) for lunch. Just looking forward to 60g of chicken & a bowl of chicken soup for dinner, followed by lemon & ginger tea while I watch Broadchurch!
