I was going to do my usual Friday fast today but the fresh bread I bought for the rest of the family's Good Friday breakfast beckoned to me. I ended up having a slice of bread and jam for breakfast.

Its the first time I have given up on a fast day but it is Easter so I am going to give myself a break until Tuesday when I will go back to normal. Having said that I am not going to overindulge today, just eat some of the nice food I have bought for Easter. I might even be able to keep within the 500!

I usually fast on Mondays & Thursdays - but gave it a miss this Thursday & I'll probably start again sometime next week. I'm not a chocoholic so Easter doesn't tempt me & I've been helping DH clear a 15ft conifer hedge so I've had plenty of exercise! I got on the scales this morning & I'm 150lb so happy with that ;)
    Have a good Easter everyone!

adouglasmhor - I don't think so but don't really know. All other pages on other sites exactly the same; it's just 105 and 106 on this site that are 'odd'. I haven't done anything to my computer.

Well done on your losses Zmikeo and Hollowhead! :T

I'm fasting again today, going for a 4:3 this week. Doing ok so far and I'm surprised I haven't given in yet. I went to the gym at half 8, met mum and sis in town and even though I walked round M&S the only thing I bought was a Count On Us Cod curry for dinner tonight. 325cals. Even went and did the weekly food shop and didn't give in to temptation.

All I've had so far is 3 wheat crackers (Aldi ones that are 21cals each and delicious!) topped with 1 light darylea triangle. I've not been nearly as hungry as I am when I fast at work but I think being out and busy for half the day has helped. Even though I'm busy at work I've noticed I am finding it harder lately to think of anything other than the hunger and I've been taking my breaks earlier so I can go and have something. Oh well!

I'll get on the scales in the morning and see if I've lost anything. I can at least see a difference in my body since going to the gym even if the scales are showing only small losses. My arms especially are getting more toned and I can actually see definition, it's fab! Bingo wings be gone! :D

Keep up the good work everyone! :j

So in what way is no added sugar squash any healthier than diet coke other than no caffeine?

Precisely that! Are you honestly trying to say that people should drink diet coke over flavoured sparkling water or sugar free squash? As someone who hates hot drinks you trying to make it out like low calorie drinks are really bad isn't helpful. Many of us are trying to make small adjustments to our lifestyle and I know that I have felt so much better physically since I stopped drinking so much diet coke.

I totally agree with this! I think this why it's sustainable - having the odd can of diet coke definitely helps me through a fast day, but I know it's not ideal. (I didn't think the other poster's fast day intake sounded particularly healthy - no proper protein or veg - but each to their own!)

    Keep going, everyone :)

Question for everyone regarding exercise on fast days; Do you still just eat 500/600cals or do you allow yourself a little more if you've exercised that day? I haven't been doing so but was wondering if others were/weren't.

diet drinks - no added sugar- etc usually have aspartme in them. I gave them up when I realised the side effect of aspartme ( and saccharine) is to make the body crave sugar. It certainly applied to me and I stopped craving so many sweet things when I stopped. If they suit you- fine - but for others please take note. Aspartme also has other not so good side effects- eg kidney problems- look it up on google etc if interested. The diet industry are of course rather backward in giving this information and have a pecuniary interest in keeping us addicted.
Having said all that = on a non fast day today, I have just eaten 5 chocolates- not so good!!

I take Canderel sweeteners in my tea and they have aspartame in them. I've cut right down on my tea intake now so only have maybe 2/day but is there another brand of sweetener that doesn't include aspartame?

I still eat the same 500 kcals. I don't do long cardio sessions, I prefer to exhaust myself lifting heavy weights or doing kettlebell intervals in order to build muscle and improve my metabolic rate.

If you do take into consideration "calories burned", be aware that machines may be overestimating those figures in order to keep us more motivated:
