I missed the documentary but have read the book. If you're just after losing some weight then stick to your 500/600 calories and consume them when you like. If you would like the full health benefits then leave at least twelve hours between your meals ideally not consuming anything for the full 24 hours. The way I read it if your body is not digesting food after a certain period it starts to repair its cells and this may help with heart disease, diabetes and cancers? Although the research is only at an early stage.
I will eat my tea at 6pm on a Sunday and only drink water and coffee until 6pm Monday, I then have my 600 calories and have my breakfast at 9am Tuesday morning.
I occasionally do the full day fast but it is hard work and I don't think I could manage it all the time. I now class this as part of my lifestyle and will continue to do it 6-1 when I achieve my target weight.

So, I fidgeted around my fast days last week. DH and I fasted on Wednesday as I was on night no. 1 on Thursday and DH was out for a meal on Thursday. Naughty me had pizza on Thursday and Friday night at work. We then went out for tea on Saturday night. Interestingly enough, neither DH or I could actually eat anything on Sunday morning. We were up for a few hours before I managed to eat egg and toast.
We didn't fast yesterday either so we're both fasting today. I have had a punnet of cherry plum tomatoes and two cups of coffee. I have got some home made soup out of the freezer for tea. I am looking forward to having that tonight :).
DH is having something with seafood mix for tea.

Hi all, I have been trying to lose weight for months now and am getting nowhere, considering giving this a go (yes, I eat healthy and run 3 times a week and swim on two but no idea why I can't lose weight! Husband has lost a stone following my diet but more of it and not running...*sigh*)

My main worry is that we are TTC and have been for a while, is this diet likely to risk that at all?

    Hello everyone.
I would like to join in please.
A friend has lent me the book and I have read most of it and really feel inspired by it. I am also really inspired by everyone posting here. I have struggled with my weight all my adult life (I'm 36 and do not want to get to 40 still being over weight). I have been on nearly every different diet with varying degrees of success. Last year I do lost 1 &1/2 stone on SW but have now put it back on:mad:
I hope that because this is only really restrictive for a couple of days a week that it should fit into everyday life better.
So here I am starting weight 15s 3lb (weighed this morning) I want to lose 5st to be in my healthy BMI.
1st fast day today and has been ok so far apart from feeling cold, so I'm wrapped up on the sofa watching Shrek with DS &DD:j
