5:2 diet

  • Yesterday was one of the hardest fast days I've done so far - I'm guessing because of the cold. I spent the day feeling freezing and fairly grumpy and ended up going to bed at 9.00 because it was warmer there.

Still, I always feel good the day after a fast and I'm feeling pretty good today. My breakfast porridge really filled me up and I really like how this way of eating has changed my attitude to food and to snacking and I can see the difference in my waistline.

Thanks all for the replies and keeping me motivated!
Yesterday was hard, I like others fouind the cold unbearable and I too went to bed about 9.00pm just to end the day!

Woke up this morning "feeling" lighter??? ...weird.
    Feast day today.
Has anyone else taken it to 4:3? Just wondered how they find it?

Isn't 1 pound what you are expected to lose each week with this diet? Why would you be disappointed by that?

Yes I do expect a 1lb a week, I think I was disappointed because normally the first week of a new diet you can lose a few lbs, I know its water but I find that mentally it gives me a tremendous boost.

I started last week too ebaybaby. I've set my fasting days as Mon and Thurs and I have to say I'm impressed at how I've coped with them.

I lost 3st a few years ago on slimming world taking me to a size 8/10, and I've put nearly 2st back on. Decided I want to lose about 17lb to get back into size 10s, but I won't bother stressing to get into 8s as I can't sustain it.

In my first week I lost a little over 1lb (and a 1/4, but I'm not counting it). I'm happy to be honest. On a normal week if I'd eaten like I did on the feast days all week then I would have easily put on 1lb. I'm hoping that this week will be better though as last weekend I indulged with my sister when she came to stay :)

Fast for me today. Where's spring?! I've been freezing all day, didn't warm up until I hit the gym then had to go back out in it and wait for my bus :o

I have a feeling I'm becoming a gym addict. I sit at work all day wishing I was in there and looking forward to finishing so I can go. Here's hoping it all pays off before long!

And I've just tried sweet potato for the first time, they're lovely! Had one with an egg white omelette with tomato and rocket. Lovely :)

Keep up the good work everyone! :T

I wish I'd thought to take a photo of myself before I started so I could have something to compare to when I'm done. I did at least remember to measure myself, but a photo would have been good too. Oh well!

Ah I see what you mean. I'm new to the dieting thing so I'm a bit thick when it comes to details!

I lost 4 and half lb in the first week so i know what you mean about the boost. It's slowed down now to 1-2lb/week. I'm hoping with all the exercise I'm doing I can maintain 2lb loss a week.

As for 4:3, I said I'd start it but I've only done it once so far because of illness and schedule. I might do it this week. I've fasted already yesterday and am doing so again tomorrow. I might do Friday if i feel like it. Totally depends on my mood, and also what I've eaten on my feast days :o

Well with sticking to 2000 cals during non fast days (making it 20% down on my weekly TDEE) ... doing a Spinning class, 30 min cardio workout and a kettlercise class .... I put on 1.2lbs!!! I could cry :(
  • Maybe you put on muscle?

Bet your clothes are looser, and you have more oomph (technical term :) ) could be any number of reasons.

  • Hello all,

I have decided to start this diet today and I'm on a fast day

I've counted calories before so I think I know how to handle it. I was just wondering, does anyone use diet coke or any of the "zero" brands to help with the hunger?

I see a lot of people on here drink tea or coffee and I'm not a big hot drink drinker.

Any way, I'm excited to start seeing results. I'm doing measurements rather than weight so hopefully I start losing :j
