Day One All fruits except bananas. You can have as many fruits as you like. The most recommended ones are melon and cantaloupe. This day prepares your body for the rest of the days.
Day Two Vegetable day. You can eat as many raw or cooked vegetables as you like. It is best to avoid dressing entirely or stick to lemon juice. For breakfast, you need to eat a large baked potato which may be flavored with one pat of butter.
Day Three Any fruit and veggies that you like except bananas.
Day Four Bananas and milk day. You can eat as many as 8 bananas and have up to 3 tall glasses of milk. You may also have the GM soup. By this day, your sugar cravings should be dramatically reduced.
Day Five is all about beef and tomatoes. Eat two 10 oz. portions of lean beef in the form of steak or burger. You must eat 6 whole tomatoes and drink one more quart of water. The water will help you purify your body from within
Day Six Eat as much beef and vegetables as you like. According to the diet, by day 6 you should have lost a considerable amount of weight.
Day Seven On this day you can eat brown rice and vegetables, and drink juice fruits.

The idea that your blood sugars will be stable after days of unlimited eating of fruit is bonkers!

What on earth has this got to do with the 5:2 diet?

We are all doing very nicely on the 5:2 thank you very much and it really does work.

Perhaps you should ditch that very complicated looking diet of yours and join us:)
Stopped smoking 27/12/2007, but could start again at any time

  • So I've just started the 5:2 diet and thought I'd join you guys. On my second fasting day of the week which is really hard. Tuesday was my first and it was really easy, mostly because I'm too busy to crave food. Today I've found really difficult and have slipped up but still eaten a lot less then non fast days so I'm still counting it. Not convinced Friday is the best day to do it but I'm reluctant to do two days in a row, Tuesdays are perfect because it's a busy day. The only other day I am considering is a Sunday or a Thursday.

How have you decided your fast days? Desperately need some tips!

I've actually decided to give 4:3 a try because I've still got a lot of weight I want to shift so that's what I've done this week. You will find it hard at first but trust me, it does get easier, and heaven knows if I can do it, anyone can.

I did Mon/Wed/Fri this week. I only have fast days when I'm at work because I know I couldn't do it if I was in the house all day. So I only take to work what I know I need so there's no temptation to snack.

How you spread your meals out is up to you. Sometimes I'll have breakfast lunch and dinner, sometimes only lunch and dinner. I don't think I could go all the way to dinner without anything before.

    Good luck! :)

So how's everyone doing today? I've had a really good fast day. :) It's probably been the best to date as I only started feeling hungry toward the end of my shift so I didn't bother with any lunch (really not like me at all). I had a piece of fruit early this morning but nothing but a cup of green tea between then and dinner just now. So I treated myself to a M&S count on us pork loin meal.

Like I said in my previous post, I'm going to start doing 4:3 purely because I've still got at least 2 stone I want to shift.

Best of all about today; got on the scales this morning to see it stop at exactly 12 stone :D:D:D That makes it 8lbs lost since starting this diet. :j

Also, I found out I get free gym membership where I work so as of next week I shall become a dedicated gym bunny :)

Fasting today too. Monday was a 420 cal day, Wednesday was 1000 cal day and today another 420 cal day, so sort of 4:3 ish! Just to push a rather stubborn plateau and it has (hurrah) and the weekend will be 1680 cals each day. My current TDEE you see.
I really wish I didn't feel the cold on fast days so badly, the only downside to this WOE for me. Snuggled up to radiator now until the fish and veg dinner I'll make at 7pm.
Well done all fasters today :0)
