5:2 diet

Well it's my second day of the diet, had my fasting day yesterday which went well. I was a bit worried I'd flake out as I went to the gym for an hour (cardio) but it was fine. Although I ate at about 6.30 and by 10pm my tummy was rumbling! Had a black tea, ignored it and went to bed!
Today is a feed day, I haven't actually had any breakfast yet, is this bad? Is it best to extend the fast day as much as possible or does it not really matter?0 -

Did anybody else struggle with fasting on exercise days? I do the Insanity with a group of friends every weekday morning at 7.30am which, to be fair, lives up to it's name in that it's VERY intense. Twice i've tried to have a ''fast day'' afterwards and twice i've failed miserably round about lunch time because i've been starving! I think the intense sweat sessions rev up my hunger!
I've eaten TERRIBLY today, far worse than i would normally, lots more carbs than i would normally pick at - could my body still be getting used to the fasting days?! I've only had two!
Going to try again tomorrow. Think i may try eating something small after my workout to see if it staves off my mid-afternoon starvation! Any suggestions for low calorie post workout snacks that i could take with me?
I don't exercise first thing during the week as I'm up at 5am to go to work. When I exercise on fast days its usually either by walking or doing my exercise DVD. Certainly nothing as intense at Insanity0 -

I do metafit, or Body Combat or Body Pump or, as yesterday FT fit on fast days (sometimes two classes), but I do it in the evening before my main meal. I have felt light headed before but as long as I keep hydrated I seem to be OK.The truth may be out there, but the lies are inside your head. Terry Pratchett

I have done bodypump whilst fasting, but I think I would struggle with metafit.
Anyway, after a long time with my scales being stuck, I have now started moving down again, so yes, it pays to persevere.I lost my job as a cricket commentator for saying “I don’t want to bore you with the details”.Milton Jones0 -

Uh Oh. Its a fast day ands someones bought some birthday treats into the office.
I normally have a cuppa soup for lunch but I've swopped that for a mini chocolate swiss role. Same calories 90.
Keep telling myself if I ignore them today I'll buy myself a cake of my choosing tomorrow.
Thing is I never buy cake , I don't even like it that much but for some reason "office cake" is the most tempting of all.
Only two hours till hometime0 -

Haha I feel your pain! I work in an office where our line manager stuffs his face with goodies all day (an is amazingly still skinny) and another guy who said today we should all chip in and buy a ton of sweets for us all to share. And on my fast day too! :rotfl:
Just about to have some fish and potatoes. I think today is my first fast day where I've hardly felt hungry at all. I wonder if its because I've only had 1 feast day in between instead of 2. Either way I've had a good day. And thankfully the pain vanished overnight so I'm going to do my DVD later.
Keep up the good work everyone. You're all doing brilliantly!0 -
Hi all
Well I survived my first ever Spinning class at the weekend - it was v v hard, but I did it. No aches after (well apart from my butt - must invest in a padded seat!) and almost looking forward to my next class on Sunday.
I went out to the pub last night - the first time on a fast day. I'd already had my calories during the day, but treated myself to a couple of diet cokes, and I was fine ... yes I may have stared at people eating garlic bread a bit too much :rotfl:, but I survived
Weigh in tomorrow ... fingers crossed for a loss!

Hi elletee
The butt ache does go I promise:rotfl:
Well I have nearly done my first week and I feel so good. This is the longest I have managed on a diet.
I tried zero noodles tonight, I'm not sure about them. I only boiled them for 3 minutes, I think I'll try 5 minutes next time.0 -
Tonight is my third attempt at a night shift while on a fast day. (it makes sense to me:D)I've come to the conclusion 500 cals isn't enough as it's a long shift and hard work. On the previous shifts I've eaten loads when I've got home as I'm really hungry, or scoffed chocolate at break time.
So I'm planning ahead and giving myself 600 - 650 calories. If I don't eat them all it's a bonus. I have butternut squash and veg soup with added lentils and quinoa to bulk it out a bit, a huge salad, fruit, crackers (and a small bar of chocolate).0
