Also... I struggle with coping with the feelings of hunger. It drives me crazy. Do you have any tips to combat this on hunger days?
Is it better to have say... 8 small 50 calorie snacks throughout the day?

Hi, before this diet I used to struggle with feelings of hunger, I'd plan my day around my food so that there was no chance I'd be hungry (even if it was healthy snacks) and panic if there was somewhere I was going where food wasn't available.

After being on this diet for 4 weeks, hunger doesn't bother me in the slightest now - I know I can go 20 hours without anything but water (and 36 with only 500 cals), so it's made me realise a few hours between meals is nothing. I have a 150 cal breakfast and a 350 cal Lunch at 1230 ish then nothing until 830am ish the following morning.

You can of course eat your calories however you choose, but I think you'll be surprised how much you can just cope with the hunger (knowing you can eat the following day is a huge motivator!)

Good luck- keep posting, the support on here is amazeballs!

    Hi all

Well I survived my first ever Spinning class at the weekend - it was v v hard, but I did it. No aches after (well apart from my butt - must invest in a padded seat!) and almost looking forward to my next class on Sunday.

I went out to the pub last night - the first time on a fast day. I'd already had my calories during the day, but treated myself to a couple of diet cokes, and I was fine ... yes I may have stared at people eating garlic bread a bit too much :rotfl:, but I survived :)

Weigh in tomorrow ... fingers crossed for a loss! :)

That's the 1st diet day of week 7 out of the way, and must not be drinking enough, as wake up dehydrated even though I thought I had drunk enough.
Am finding my routine of a 80 kcal soup for lunch and the rest on my evening meal works for me and last night had scallop curry with brown rice and enough left over for some roasted butternut and garlic.
I even prepped some left over beef for a curry, while before I started the fast diet I would of been scoffing bits of the beef, so am learning more self control :D

Good luck to anyone who is starting out with the diet or just continuing with it.
Following horizon 5-2 started 28/01/13 target where I am now ish :)
Maintaining now as DW doesn't want my legs to get any skinnier :D
    Total Loss=41.6lb
  • I have decided that I am going to start this diet and I am going to start on a fasting day. Will fast the other day on a weekend day.
I am going to have a slimfast shake for breakfast and tea which leaves me with 40 cals for snacking.

Will also continue with shakes on non-fast days for breakfast and lunch, but will stop the calorie counting and eat what I fancy for tea.

I know most are against slim fast, but I have it in so am going to use it all up in the coming weeks and then decide on my next move.

Will weight myself today and try not to be obsessive and only weigh once a week.

SunshineButterfly sounds a good plan - the beauty of this diet is you can tailor it to what works for you & because of that its much easier to stick to it & reach your goals. Some of us will lose quite quickly, others (me!) seem to be slower - we'll all get there in the end. I'm looking forward to see how many of us reach our goals over the next few months & plans to maintain.
Small victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle

Well I've woken up today in a lot of pain. I don't know how but I think I've bruised my coccyx. It hurts like heck to sit down and bend so I wonder if I've done it exercising. I haven't fallen or anything like that. I don't want to stop my exercising either :(

Any historic injury in the same area?

The reason I ask is this: I've seen a couple of people who are 5:2ing comment that they've had pain at the site of an old injury. It's uppermost in my mind because last night, a fast day, I had all sorts of grief with a shoulder which I damaged a few years ago.

The only sensible-ish explanation I've seen is that on fast days the body is able to go into repair mode and work on fixing old problems and the pain is associated with that.
