5:2 diet

The 24 hour awake thing on the first shift was my downfall too. I 'cheated' last week and ate a normal but small dinner then started a 24 hour fast, so doing dinner to dinner. It says in the book that doing a 24 hour fast is ok BUT...
I failed miserablyas a hot cross bun and a creme egg may have fallen into my lunch bag along with the soup and salad I had planned.
Just in case I was hungry of course but it was all scoffed.
That's why I'm on another variation on the theme this week.0 -

I know that I almost invariably eat everything I take with me, so these days, I pack my lunch bag very seriously (or leave it behind on fast days).
Stir-fry tonight...
Planning to add water chestnuts with the greens; bought some on the other day and found that they are incredibly low in calories (18 kcals for the entire tin!). Great for the crunch factor!!!!I lost my job as a cricket commentator for saying “I don’t want to bore you with the details”.Milton Jones0 -

The main thing for me was being on night shift and awake IYSWIM. Because most people have dinner on Day 1, sleep, eat 500 cals day 2, sleep and eat again on breakfast day 3. I was trying to do the same thing but working overnight meant it wasn't working for me and I was eating more than the 500 calories and seemed to be going days without eating properly.
So this week I'm doing the following:
Today is a fast day as I'm not working so 500 cals today.
Tuesday - working overnight and eating normally.
Wednesday - I'll eat when I get home from work in the morning, not a full blown dinner but a sandwich or something. Then sleep and count the 500 cals through my night shift until Thursday morning. Then I sleep again and have a normal dinner Thursday night. So I get my two sleeps in:D
In theory this will work but I'll see how I get on.
How confusing :rotfl: I'm glad you've got your head round it.
At least with not eating a big meal during your Night shifts your Circadian Rhythms will be happy lol0 -
IYSWIM sorry, means what?:hello:0

Lost 20lb now and am well aware it shows, but have noticed 1 negative thing. The odd 'friend' and a 'colleague' or two, who know me more than well enough, seem to be deliberately choosing to say absolutely nothing. Yet people I see just as often, but know much less, have all wasted no time in offering congratulations and enquiring "how have you done it".
I've purposely tried NOT to be a diet bore, and don't go round shoving my daily/weekly/overall weight loss in failed dieters faces, so I find it a bit hurtful that this small pocket of people can't say "well done", particularly when I know full well they have a good look at me when they think I'm not looking.
One person in particular did brilliantly on Weight Watchers, I never failed to offer encouragement and compliments, she's done great and I told her so. Yet now the boot is on the other foot & she knows I started doing 5:2.......barely a word!
Aren't people strange.
Well I must say I've experienced some of this recently from a colleague. She's part of the 'weight loss club' at work, and another colleague is always asking her how she's got on. Anyway she's always happy to talk about herself but as soon as I get asked how I'm getting on she starts finding derogative things to say about the diet. Daft things like 'yo-yo dieting never works' and 'its stupid to starve yourself' (even though I've tried explaining how it works).
Annoying to say the least, particularly when I'm feeling so positive and trying to stay that way.
Oh well, I guess you can't please all the people all the time0 -

The proof of the pudding is in the eating - which you can do guilt-free on non-fast days, and I bet she can't! I'd just smile (and be determined to do better than her, lol)
