I've just made a huge batch of potato, chickpea and spinach curry for fasting days - and used up some tinned stuff in the process!
I made a big pan full, from two onions, fried in 1tsp oil, some spices (garam masala, allspice, cinnamon, turneric and coriander), garlic, a finely chopped red pepper and a red chilli, three tins of chopped tomatoes, two tins of chickpeas, a tin of spinach and a tin of new potatoes...
Worked it out as just under 1000 calories for the pan full, and I've decanted it into 8 single portion cartons (about 350 grams a portion) - so about 125 calories per serving - it's tasty too - they've all gone in the freezer now, will take to work for lunch on fasting days!0 -
Morning
I'm on a fast day today and feeling v positive - I didn't go over the top at all yesterday and this morning the scales show the same as after my last fast day - so v happy with that - as they usually go up and go back down after today.
Good luck to today's fasters!

Hurrah, I've FINALLY lost some weight again. I've been stuck on the same weight for two or three weeks, despite doing all the fast days. Now am down 2 pounds.
Was starting to lose the faith somewhat!:rudolf: :rudolf: :rudolf: :rudolf: :rudolf:0 -
I'm on a fast day today. So far had 2 coffees and am now having a cup of hot water purely to warm up as it's bitter out there! I have some veggie soup in the freezer but can't eat it today unless I come in well under calories as I don't know how many cals it has. It was lovely soup so will definitely make it again and portion it up so I know the calorie content of it. I suspect it's lower or as low as a cuppa soup and it's full of veggies.Debt: 16/04/2007:TOTAL DEBT [strike]£92727.75[/strike] £49395.47:eek:   £43332.28 repaid 100.77% of £43000 target.MFiT T2: Debt [STRIKE]£52856.59[/STRIKE] £6316.14 £46540.45 repaid 101.17% of £46000 target.2013 Target: completely clear my [STRIKE]£6316.14[/STRIKE] £0 mortgage debt. £6316.14 100% repaid.0

I fast from last meal today Wednesday till a late breakfast/brunch on Friday.
So in the 36 hrs I only have my 600 kcal, and have been losing about 2 lbs a week.skintchick wrote: »I fast a whole day. So I would eat tea on a Sunday then not eat again till lunchtime Tuesday as I don't eat breakfast. So about 40 hours for me.I had my last normal meal about 6.30pm tonight .. then have my 500 cals tomorrow split 150 breakfast (8am) and 350 for Lunch (12.30) then nothing until 8am the following day ... so I think that's your second example
If the first one's not working for you - try the second - good luck!
Thanks - I think where I've been going wrong is that I'm only doing the 24 hours, rather than a full 36. Next fast day is tomorrow, so I will try it this new way, and hopefully it will kick-start my weight loss!marlasinger0 -
Hello fasters, just popped in for my lunch...1 mug of bouillon:D I have kept really busy this morning out in the garden and don't feel hungry, but wanted something hot and a bit soupy, hence the bouillon.
I think we will have some smoked haddock tonight with a poached egg and some lemony broad beans. Hoping to save 40 calories for my low fat bedtime drink as it gives me something to look forward to.
Thanks for the recipe foreign correspondent, I think it sounds lovely and will make some for next week:T
It would be interesting to see if people are starting to notice some health benefits apart from weight loss, after being on the 5:2. I am coming to the end of my 5th week and this is what I've noticed so far:-
1) I am sleeping so much better.
and
2) Hardly taking any indigestion/heartburn medication now, used to need them nearly every day.
I am noticing a few other things as well, but want to wait a bit longer just to make sure I am not imagining them.
Good luck today's fasters and well done everyone else:TSealed Pot Challenge 7 Member 022 :staradmin:staradmin:staradmin
5:2 Diet started 28/1/2013 only 13lbs lost due to Xmas 2013 blip.0 -
Hello all. Well I've decided to give the 5:2 a try. I lost 8lb last September but then got out of the habit of exercising and my weight has stayed at 12stone 8lb ever since (somehow managed to not put anything on over christmas!
). Last week however I got back in to an exercise routine and on Monday I started 5:2.
Tuesday was my first fast day. I had a small cup of tea (always with skimmed milk) for brekkie with a banana. While at work I had one Belvita breakfast biscuit (56 cals) then had a cup a soup for lunch. When I got home I had scrambled egg on one slice of nimble brown bread. Just short of 500 cals all in all. I'm glad i paced it out over the day as I don't think I could just have 2 meals and nothing inbetween. I felt great, slept fine and wasn't groggy.
Got on the scales Wednesday morning and I'd lost 2lb. Probably not all from the 5:2 lol because I have been eating well and exercising for at least a week before i started.
Tomorrow is another fast day. It'll prob go along the same lines but with an omelette for dinner. I don't want to have a fast day when I'm at home as I know I'll fail.
I haven't been pigging out on my feast days, I had a couple of jaffa cakes the other day but generally I just don't fancy eating too much or eating junk food.
Here's hoping come Monday I'll have lost some more!0 -

You are welcome, it's just an adaptation of several chickpea and potato curry recipes, using ingredients that are low in calories, and cutting down on the oil... it also contains a good balance of carbs and protein, and some veg, so reasonably balanced.
It's a very easy store cupboard recipe, and only takes about 15 minutes in all...
I'm doing another fast day today, but suspect I may have veered closer to 600 calories than 500.. boo! Ah well, still better than not doing it at all I suppose!0 -
That's my 5th week almost completed, and cant have anything else tonight, but looking forward to some red wine and cheese and biscuits tomorrow night :jFollowing horizon 5-2 started 28/01/13 target where I am now ish
Maintaining now as DW doesn't want my legs to get any skinnier

I've had a really good fast day today, I decided to not have breakfast and lunch, and see how long I could go without eating as I find once I've eaten I crave more food. So I managed to not eat anything until my Tea at 7.30pm and my god it tasted delish! so I think I will do this next time too ( I never thought I would manage it! )
I was a bit disappointed that I didn't loose anything last week so fingers crossed for Monday .0
