5:2 diet

  • I had to change my usual tea drinking to coffee drinking to avoid the dreaded cafiene withdrawl headache. I like sweet milky drinks too. I now drink coffee made with truvia and almond milk (much less calories than normal milk).

Think next week will be my last week doing 5:2, I will have to go to 6:1. The half stone I wanted to lose is nearly gone :j I am now under the half way mark of my healthy BMI. I don't want to lose anymore.

I learned that for 2 weeks I can leave all my calories till my evening meal. And for the other 2 I need two small meals a day (PMT :o). I know that chicken, potatoes, veg and gravy is my new favourite. But using courgettes as noodles has deffo been a life saver in the early days.

I started back in January and it's taken two months to lose half a stone. I've eaten wonderfully on non fast days. The first week of starting 5:2, I had all my forbidden foods :rotfl: that was a good week and it was good to get it out of my system iyswim. Stick with it everyone, because it does work!! :T Can't say I've had lovely clear skin or shiney hair, but I am one of those who has a fantastic sleep on a fast day. Not everyone has those.

Well after 4 fast days I'm fairly sure that DH's waist is smaller. He thinks he's dropped half a stone as he's gone from 15 to 14.5. We'll be fasting again tomorrow but not sure what we're having yet.

When you are doing your fast days, are you fasting 24 hours (ie. dinner at 7pm from Thursday and not eating your next meal until dinner at 7pm on Friday)?

Or are you fasting for 36 hours (last meal 7pm Thursday, and first meal 7am Saturday)?

I'm doing the former and haven't lost any weight (aside from the day after as fast day, but when I begin eating normally, I go back to the same pre-fast weight). I'm just wondering if this is where I'm going wrong.

I fast from last meal today Wednesday till a late breakfast/brunch on Friday.
So in the 36 hrs I only have my 600 kcal, and have been losing about 2 lbs a week.
Following horizon 5-2 started 28/01/13 target where I am now ish :)
Maintaining now as DW doesn't want my legs to get any skinnier :D
    Total Loss=41.6lb

I fast a whole day. So I would eat tea on a Sunday then not eat again till lunchtime Tuesday as I don't eat breakfast. So about 40 hours for me.

I did end up fasting today. I was busy with housework and got to 2pm and thought I may as well! Still not eaten a thing just had three cups if tea. Will be able to have a real dinner tonight! Thinking baked potato and tuna. Yum.

Must find some scales and weigh myself. Surely I must have lost something after two weeks?

I had my last normal meal about 6.30pm tonight .. then have my 500 cals tomorrow split 150 breakfast (8am) and 350 for Lunch (12.30) then nothing until 8am the following day ... so I think that's your second example :)

If the first one's not working for you - try the second - good luck!

I sleep fine after a fast - but have the most bizarre dreams (e.g being attacked by penguins and picking one up and using it as a bat to hit the others!)

    Good luck with tomorrow!

Second fast this week finished, have a little milk left to have hot drink at bedtime. I find I sleep better if I do this rather than risking going to bed hungry!!!!
I seem to be stuck at 11st so have just started walking 20mins every day. I wouldn't normally worry about my weight not going down for a couple of weeks but we are going on holiday on 11th and would like to have that little bit 'off' so that any weight I put on, will still leave me at 11st. Does that make sense?

My aim is to be about 10st by the end of 2013 so nice and gentle weight loss suits me. It took me 13 months to lose 2.25st. and I'm very pleased with how easy it has been. I don't feel as though I'm missing anything or in anyway deprived. Which is probably the reason I've stayed on this 'diet' longer than any other I've tried and been more sucessful. I'm too old now for quick fix dieting. Far too aging!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
    Good luck everyone.

Reading through the posts and just had to say, well done! to those of you nearly at your goal weight, what an achievement:T It gives the rest of us encouragement to carry on.

My 10th fast day tomorrow, I plan to keep as busy as possible and will split my 500 cals up in 2 x 250, half at breakfast and half in the evening. Fish for us tomorrow too, it's becoming the 'norm' on fast days.

    .....and finally.....my coat's too big:rotfl::D

    Well done everyone!:)

I have just opened the top drawer to get a fresh bin bag out, spotted the chocolate buttons and found myself talking to myself in the third person: " Not today Tanya, not today!". Fast day today!!!! Chocolate buttons I'll be back for you tomorrow!!!!
