Well done Elizabunny:T
Just been having a 'gos' with my neighbour who is also doing the 5:2 (we went to WW together about 10 years ago!) & been comparing notes & we both reckon this is the easiest diet ever & we both intend to do 6:1 when we reach our goals - or back to 5:2 if we have a blow out :rotfl:Small victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle0 -
Well done on some great losses:T:T I am a ww who is really interested in all this and want to give it a try. I had My first fast day yesterday and was wondering how "good" do I need to be on my feast days?0

So I tried by putting off my breakfast until after the school run, did some work first and had 2 weetabix about 10am, then a cup of tea. Lunch about 1.30pm was 1 slice of bread with left over sausage, small amount of ketchup, small handful of crisps as the packet was open:o then walked to school and had half a tea cake and cup of tea with the kids as starving  DH made carbonara for tea, I had a smaller portion than normal with a glass of water about 5.45pm.
It'd be worth plugging that food and drink into one of the websites and seeing how close to 500 calories you were. MyFitnessPal has a pretty good database that's easy to use.
Switching away from carbs (the weetabix, the bread, the ketchup, the crisps, the tea cake, the pasta) and towards soups or salad or lean meat and veg would give you much more food for the same number of calories.

Interesting to see Elizabunny that we started the 5-2 on the same day, and at moment am losing 2 lb a week, but expect that too slow down a bit.Following horizon 5-2 started 28/01/13 target where I am now ish
Maintaining now as DW doesn't want my legs to get any skinnier
Total Loss=41.6lb0 -
Some "food for thought"! I am going to have a better plan for my next 500 calories, on Monday! I may not get it perfect but reckon i can get there as I get more used to it. Even going over the 500 calories I still ate about 30-40% less than normal, my biggest sin is a hot chocolate and pudding at night when I am just sat around doing nothing. So better plan for Monday, eat less over the weekend and see how it goes!0

Hiyas all xx Can I join in here I came across the plan a few weeks ago read like mad about it and started last week doing to 600kcal fasts(ive loads to lose and its closer to 1/4 of my TDEE advised range than 500) and lost 3lb this week, lots would say thats low but ive been with slimming world last year and lost 3 1/2 stone there so 3 lb is fine with me, Is there anyone else who is trying to tie the non fasting days into slimming world plan by any chance and getting good results, I know thats not what the 5:2 diet is about but it is working for me and I know exactly what I can eat and lose on S/W so would like to carry on but with some added benefits of repairing some of damage ive done over the years... Im doing 4:3 for March and hoping to get to know everyone here and offer any advice and receive some too we cant all know it all lol ...2 week 5:2=5.5lb off.0

I really doubt anyone would.:rudolf: :rudolf: :rudolf: :rudolf: :rudolf:0 -
What a fabulous start to the day I've had! Got on the scales this morning and have lost 4 1/2lbs since last Saturday! Add that to the weight I lost in September and I'm now a stone lighter
:D:D
I feel fantastic and I'm loving doing this diet, even if it's only been a week! I didn't expect to lose as much as I have so quickly as usually it takes a fair bit to shift.
All I can say is long may it continue. I'm going to Paris in June for my birthday so if I can lose even more and be fit and fab for then, I will be one very happy 30 year old!0 -

Be careful with fiddling around your calorie intake... You may turn your version into another low cal diet that never does achieve what the 5:2 does, which is to force your metabolism to switch to a different mode. I believe this is only achieved when your energy intake is strictly limited over a short time and restored to normal the rest of the time.
I think that especially initially it is important to keep under the 500 kcals. Eating less over the weekend may be counter productive ( although it's difficult to know if you mean eating less than 2000 kcals or limiting yourself to that) as you may find it affect your metabolism.
As jei said, it may not be the right diet for you if you struggle to function without food. But give it a try, following the rules to the letter!
Good luck whatever you do.I lost my job as a cricket commentator for saying “I don’t want to bore you with the details”.Milton Jones0
