I thought about fasting over the weekend but I don't think I could do it. I don't go out much so I'd be too tempted to eat if I'm at home all day, hence why I fast on working days then I know I can keep busy and not think about eating.
Does anyone else alternate their fast days each week or do you all keep to the same two days?
totally makes sense im looking to fast 4:3 for a few weeks and I know I can keep relatively busy on a sunday so choose today as an extra really, as was going to start the extra fast day next week but thats always my answer next week lol, going well so far plenty of squash and A cup-a-soup just to keep going til later, cleaned thru downstairs, watched Stella on sky+ now for a blast upstairs I could get used to this as a sunday routine especially if I can wangle a nice roast dinner into my cals may have a look later at cals im sure its doable..2 week 5:2=5.5lb off.0 -
What a fabulous start to the day I've had! Got on the scales this morning and have lost 4 1/2lbs since last Saturday! Add that to the weight I lost in September and I'm now a stone lighter
:D:D
I feel fantastic and I'm loving doing this diet, even if it's only been a week! I didn't expect to lose as much as I have so quickly as usually it takes a fair bit to shift.
All I can say is long may it continue. I'm going to Paris in June for my birthday so if I can lose even more and be fit and fab for then, I will be one very happy 30 year old!
Fab loss how has your week been? this is my first week too, Is there anything you intend changing for next week? Im with you also loving the plan x2 week 5:2=5.5lb off.0 -

It's been a great week! Obviously the loss helpsI had my fast days on Tuesday and Friday and intend to stick to that for now. Friday was harder than Tuesday though I must admit.
This next week I'm going to try and leave it a bit longer before I have something to eat, partly to see how long I can go and partly because if I can make it to lunch without having anything I can then have more for dinner when I get home.0 -
Don't give up! I hit a plateau in February too and was advised to check my TDEE - something like total daily energy expended type thing - there are tdee calculators on line that ask for your height, weight, gender, age, multi-choice level of daily activity and from that calculate the amount of calories you are best to eat on a feed day. Eat only a quarter of this total on your fast days e.g. 1700 on feed days, 425 on fast days. This makes your body go into repair mode after 16 hours without solid food (autophagy technically) so I find that if I finish my last meal at 7pm the previous feed day I get the most out of it by eating my one and only meal at 7pm on the following fast day. Lots of water and peppermint tea throughout the day and a mug of veg bouillon for lunch (16 cals) warms me up as I do feel the cold on fast days. Hope that helps and good luck! :T0

All about balance Jomo70, as the planets are in balanced orbit around the Sun so we must be in balance with our bodies and what we put in them. Lots of info and encouragement gets us where we want to be. Pip pip!:hello:0

Very disappointed today as I have put on a pound after staying the same last week. I have been good and not over eating and did well on my fasting days!! HELP! this is when I start to give up..... can anybody give me some tips to get back on track??
Hi jomo70, I have had a couple of poor weeks, last week I only lost 0.28 of 1lb and this week 0.70 of 1 lb. I know we are all eager to lose weight and see reasonably satisfying results but the 5:2 diet is about so much more than just losing weight and the possible health benefits alone make it a worthwhile plan for me.
There have been quite a few of us who have had disappointing weight loss results from time to time. I personally, feel a bit deflated when the scales don't register what I expect them to, but I think if I just keep going, something is bound to shift eventually.
The situation always seems so much worse when, 'we' have been very good and have perhaps become more active than before as well and still we don't get the results we expect.
You are not alone and hopefully if we can keep sticking to the plan, there will be a gradual downward trend.
Before I started the 5:2 diet it took me 7 years to lose 2 stone! but in the last 5 weeks I have lost 8.22 lbs, most of which came off in the first 2-3 weeks. Now although I am still doing the same thing, weight loss has slowed dramatically and I am nowhere near my goal weight. I will be happy though if I can average 0.50 of 1lb per week for the rest of the year because by Christmas that will be another 18 lbs or so.:D
Onwards and downwards! Well done today's fasters and good luck to tomorrow's :T-I will be joining you (my 11th fast day)Sealed Pot Challenge 7 Member 022 :staradmin:staradmin:staradmin

Feel like dancing round my kitchen!!! Just weight myself and 10st 12lb!!! So happy to see a '10'. Haven't been there for about 25 years. In Jan 2012 I was 13st 3lbs so all those feeling disappointed that their loss seems very low and slow please take heart. You can get there.
Not once have I felt that I was being deprivied or miserable that I couldn't eat something. I think this is why diets don't work long time. Everyone starts off following all the rules but after a couple of months we all slip. This is a very easy eating system to follow for life.
We have been on holiday several times, visited friends, had friends here and been out for meals. There have been odd months when my weight hasn't changed but I just kept going.
I'm 67, so slow loss is much healthier and means that I don't have saggy skin anywhere. I'm lucky that I don't have any of the health problems common at my age (blood pressure etc.) I do have an underactive thyroid and one new hip.
Please keep going, you will be so happy in a year's time! The longer you do it, the easier it becomes and the amount of food you want/need on 'other' days does become less as your stomach shrinks slightly.
Good luck everyone, not that you will need it!0 -
I lost my weight very slowly and am still losing a few ounces each week as I still have some to lose. However, my husband said to me if you were putting on that amount each week you would become overweight in time. A few ounces a week loss is okay because it is accumulative and although it will take longer to lose it is probably the way you put it on.
Therefore, don't be discouraged, don't give up. This is the right way to lose weight. The forest would be very silent if no birds sang except for the birds that sang the best0
