    Weigh in day today, and down 2lbs this week :j:j
    Following horizon 5-2 started 28/01/13 target where I am now ish :)
    Maintaining now as DW doesn't want my legs to get any skinnier :D
    Total Loss=41.6lb
  • After 6 fast days (2 a week) down to my pre christmas weight of 10 st 2 lb - lost 7lbs put on with xmas and holiday in january. can't believe how easy it was compared to other things I'd tried. I suppose the next part will be harder as its been about 10 years since I was below 10 stone- but want to achieve BMI of normal. I told my sister who says Tesco is doing the book for £2.99 instead of £7.99 this weekend. Shes using weight watchers but achieving about 4oz a week now after nearly a year. I gloried about the bacon sandwich I was about to indulge in. Long may this diet work.

    smikeo Well done on your weight loss.

    grannyjo Well done on your weight loss.

    Flip I have loss so little this week it is hardly worth a mention:mad:
    annoyed because I have done so much more exercise.

    Anyway, here are the weigh in and associated results for DH and myself this week.

    ME
    Weight loss 0.28lb or around one quarter of one pound
    Body fat, water and muscle have stayed the same.
    DH
    Weight loss 0.70lb or around three quarters of one pound
    Body Fat down 0.2%
    Body Water UP 0.2%
    Body Muscle up 1%

    We have now completed 4 weeks of the 5:2 and have had a total loss of:-
    ME = 7.52 lbs
    DH = 9.80 lbs
    Total =17.32lbs or around 31.5 x 250 gram packs of butter:j
    Plus I have lost 1.5 inches off my waist.

    Although I am a little disappointed at the slowing of weight loss, overall I am thrilled to have lost over half a stone this past 28 days, so onwards and downwards........hopefully:D

    Well done yesterday's fasters, good luck to today's and best of luck to tomorrow's:T

    Hi Everyone! Its taken me days but I've finally read through this entire thread. It's very inspiring to read of your trials and tribulations with 5:2 eating.I started yesterday and had my first FD. It went really well even though I only had 400 cals - I was hardly hungry at all. I'm eating 1200 cals today as my worst fear is that I'll binge on non fast days so I'm keeping an eye on it. I think I'll be able to relax more as time goes on and I don't start bingeing. Tomorrow is my second FD and I'm quite looking forward to it.

    Hope everyone's having a good weekend.

    Hi Pippin12,
    Do be careful not to restrict yourself too much on your non FD's. I did the same as you last week and although I lost a fantastic 4lbs, I was finding it harder to stick to around 1200 cals aday on NFD's. This means I was at risk of turning this into a normal calorie restricted diet.This week I have done my 2 Fd's and have been eating more than I was on NFD's but still not going OTT and not counting calories. I have a dinner dance tonight where I will be having a few drinks too. My weigh in day is tuesday so it will be interesting to see if I have any lost weight. More importantly, I feel better in myself than I have for over a year and my insomnia has improved just in the space of a week and a half.
    Good luck. x

    As TOOMUCHWORRY says, not eating enough on a non fast day will be counter-productive.

    1200 cals may be enough if you are very very small. Stick your figures into this calculator an it will give you an idea of what to aim for...

    Any less and you risk your metabolism slowing to compensate.
  • Hi all
    Not been online for a few days. So pleased everyone is doing well. I fasted last Monday but didn't do another day - ne reason, just lack of motivation. As usual, I get so far with a diet and then lose interest. I do think it's to do with the weather. I get very down in Winter. Hope it gets better with Spring coming. I will start again On Monday. Wish me luck please. :o
  • :) First post.

    Started 5&2 Jan 13th
    Fast days Mon & Thurs - 500 - 600 cals
    Starting weight 14st 5lbs
    Weight today 13st 3lbs.

    Easiest diet ever. Yippee!

    We all wish you good luck, LadyinBlack and will be willing you on, metaphorically holding your hand. That is the wonderful thing about all ML forums; they all seem to be full of lovely, helpful, supportive people.
    Have been planning Monday's fast food. That doesn't sound right! Sounds as though we are eating burgers etc! Not so easy this week as we have run out of fresh veg and I don't want to get car out until later in the week. I do have some Hungarian mince in the freezer for dinner and eggs and prawns for omelettes for lunch. So that looks like our menu. Would prefer to have stuffed peppers for lunch as it looks such a large amount on the plate and is very low in calories as well as being healthy - a win win situation.
    Will be thinking of you on Monday, LadyinBlack as we will also be fasting.

    Thankyou kind posters - I certainly don't want my metabolism to slow down or to feel like I'm too restricted so I'm thinking of increasing my cals to 1600 on a NFD which is the recommende amount to maintain my weight. Do you think this is too much though? Bit lost as to what to aim for...I'm 46, sedentary, 5ft 2 and 10st 2 btw. Any ideas most gratefully received!
