My fast day has gone well so far, had some homemade soup an half a pitta bread for lunch, 3 cups of tea and several glasses of water. Have got a prawn curry planned for tea at about 7.30pm.

I'm currently trying to ignore the delicious smell coming from the kitchen as DS is baking choc chip cookies, how cruel is that!

Do tinned pots have less cals than normal ones? I used to love tinned pots, they have a lovely texture.

Lidl tinned potatoes say 53cals per 100g, I think Morrisons say 56cals per 100g...

I'm eating them on fast days, partially cos of the convenience (food for 1, and a busy life) and partially because potatoes score highest on the 'satiety index' - i.e how much something fills you up for the calories it contains!
  • "Normal" means different things to different people. I guess by Merlot's standards she pigged out!

I more than pigged out, it was pure greed caused by the wine:mad: I very very rarely eat crisps, don't put many in a pack do they, thats why I had two:D

I didn't realise that salmon was high in calories, I will save that for my non fast days, I like a rather large of portion of salmon with dill sauce and a glass of wine - as you may have guessed I do like wine, hence my username! (in moderation of course!).

Well I've survived till now on my 150 cals of pineapple plus drinks, so I'm planning a small chicken breast (250 cals) and some veggies up to 100 cals to see me through this evening.

Anyone got any ideas for interesting veg stuff? I have tinned toms, cauli, brocolli, peppers, courgettes, mushrooms. What exciting veg side dish can I make for 100 cals? Or even for more cals and I'll have less chicken.

It's my second fast day today. Usually I'll do Wednesday but my friend hosted a brunch yesterday and there was no way I was going to pass up on smoked salmon, scrmabled eggs, toast and croissants!

So far today I've had three cups of tea and a cup of coffee, and I have a small 80-g bowl of fresh pineapple (33 cals) next to me but I've ignored it for over an hour so far!

I've not eaten yet. Want to try and have a reasonable dinner with OH if I can. I find it easier to treat it as a full fast and eat as late as possible.

I was sick this morning though for some bizarre reason so haven;t felt like eating anyway. bonus!

I think I'm going to have to buy some scales though.Weighted myself on my neighbour's ones on Tuesday and was 65kg. I want to be about 57kg.

Can anyone recommend some bathroom scales?
I bought these from Tesco for £21. http://www.amazon.co.uk/Salter-Analyser-Bathroom-9141-WH3R/dp/B003X3A3EY/ref=sr_1_6?ie=UTF8&qid=1361475803&sr=8-6
  • It's fasting Friday once again so good luck to everyone being good today, and me; plenty of water and things to do as usual :-)

Fasting today, so far two cups of tea, one with a little soy milk so I could take my diclofenac (last one tomorow morning) and one black.

Too late for yesterday but if you have a decent non-stick pan or a wok you can make a good stir-fry and still come in under 100 cals.

Ribbons of courgette (50g) and peppers (50g), slices of mushroom (50g), half a teaspoon of sunflower oil, a small can of bamboo shoots, a little lemon juice and ginger and garlic and half a tablespoon of soya sauce plus 100g of chicken comes in at less than 200 cals and it makes a good sized bowl with plenty of flavour.

So nice it was on the menu twice this week ;)

FD today for me too. I've got a couple of fishcakes in the oven (need something hot!) & plan to have Banana & Custard for pud - comes in around 450 cals. The remainder I've saved for my cups of tea & coffee ;)
OAPRUT Agree with your comments - I fast & my weight goes down a pound - I eat normally (& I do mean normally) & it goes back up BUT I am still losing - prob only about 1/2lb a week but I'm happy with that as I'm not finding this 'programme' as I call it at all difficult. In fact I've made a large Granny Cake & a big Lemon Cake for DH today & not even bothered to have any 'cos I know I can have a slice tomorrow :)
I'm doing a charity walk tomorrow (non FD!) for BHF so I'm sure I'll need a few extra calories in the morning to keep me going lol
Hope everyone has a good weekend

Good luck with the walk :)

My neighbour takes no exercise, constantly complains about his health and his increasing weight and says he really must do something about it ... and then doesn't. Before Christmas we joked that we (he, me, hubs who could all do with loosing weight) should get into a routine of walking up to the next village up regularly, which is a bit of a hike.

Today, after many delays, we finally did. And, despite several stops we got waaaaay further than we expected. The neighbour was tired but absolutely delighted with how well he'd done. All the way back down he was asking when we'd go again and how often he'd need to do this to make a difference.

Just as we got home we met a girl from the village and the neighbour was excited telling her about this new scheme of his. She looked delighted, pointed at his over-large tum and said if he carried on it might disappear.

She then turned to me, stabbed me in the belly and said it'd do me good too.

She's very sweet, very svelte and not English but blimey that hurt, especially since I'm down 12 pounds already.
