  • Did my fast day yesterday and enjoyed it, it's refreshing to feel hungry rather than stuffed!
Been in the scales today (naughty I know, will put more on after my feed days), the scales show 3lbs down. Even though I know some will go back on, it's motivating to see the scales go in the right direction, and to know I'm achieving!
Lost more on 3 weeks of fasting than I did in 10 weeks of slimming world!

Good luck to everyone fasting today!:)

Fasting today - so far a small plum and a cod liver oil capsule to take my Dicloflex 24Cals. Spicy brown rice with a little red pepper and onion for lunch 70 Cals. So that leaves me enough for a decent dinner - I am thinking something with sweet potato.

I notice many posters saying how much they actually look forward to their fasting day and I have to agree with this. I don't think it's just about the challenge of the restricted calories either. For me it's more like a sort of relief. A feeling that this just might make me lose some weight but more that it might actually be beneficial to me for lots of other health reasons.
I think part of it is that we all recognise that dieting is much more difficult to do than giving up other things that aren't good for us, such as smoking or drinking, for example, because you can't do without food at all.
But on fasting days, you discover that you can (or nearly so).
I wouldn't have thought it possible for me to last 24 hours without any food at all if you'd asked me a few months ago. But now, I know I can, and it makes me feel empowered.

I don't need to lose weight anymore; I'd like to shed another 1 or 2 kilos, to be on safe side of my ideal BMI, but I can see myself sticking to the regime, with maybe a more substancial dinner following a fast day.

I can't say I have noticed much health improvement, but I started without any issues and I am pretty stressed at the minute, so I'm not sure I would notice. I am hoping this will make a difference keeping me healthy in the long term (not that I will know if the diet is the reason).
I certainly feel energetic in general and feel very alert on fast days.

    Good luck to today's fasters.

Thank you for posting the soup recipe. I might borrow that if I may:D We have fish tonight but I might be able to re-jig the numbers so that I can fit the soup in too:T

Well I've lost 8 lbs in a month so feeling really happy, only another 35 to go!!

As others have said I feel really good about being hungry on fast days as feel like I'm more in control of my body. I have also found that my stomach has shrunk so am eating far less on my normal days too and along with trying to make healthier food choices am managing to keep to around 1500 cals a day on normal days with no feelings of being deprived. I also feel like others do that this is a lifestyle change for life rather than a 'diet' that I will get fed up with in couple months.

A quick tip that someone gave me - if you really crave a 'proper' meal on Fast days try the kiddie/toddler ready meal section, most are around 250 cals and feel much more filling than lot of other things. Plus you know you are getting a good balance of nutrients in them and no nasty additives.

(Must drink lots more water today to help avoid those niggly headaches)

Aha! Thank you. I have one of those as I type and now I know why :o

250cals at 9 this morning and that is it till about 30 mins time when my evening meal will be cooked.

The hunger is hardly there If I'm honest. Must easier on day 2 han on the first. I have to say though I've been engrossed in my uni application all afternoon and I think that has helped.

Can I ask is it better to leave say 24 hours in between eating or do the same results come from have half in the morning and half cals in the evening?

I think you will find that people have differing opinions on this as many seem to try and fast for 24 hours. However, in the book MM had breakfast and an evening meal, so therefore spreading his allowance. This appears to have worked successfully for him. This is also what I do, simply because I am certain I am not ever going to be able to go without food for 24 hours solidily on the fasting days, for the rest of my life (unless I'm ill). This is after all a life plan and I need to know that what is acheivable for me will work IYSWIM. If I make too many rules and set the goals too far, I will fail and I really don't want to.
