I am really looking forward to breakfast tomorrow! Had a small biccie (60kcal) this morning as one of the class brought them in to celebrate. Ravioli and salad for dinner - pretty much a fast day staple at this point. Had a few sultanas and almonds as my evening snack. Would rather a little snack than a mug of builder's tea, which is what Hubs will be having.

Lost very little weight over the last two weeks, but I was being really bad about my water intake. Am drinking lots again now and the weight is falling off again. 2.5kg to my next milestone! :D Hubs is 1.5kg to his. We're giving ourselves "rewards" for hitting the markers. His is his favourite chicken dinner with all the trimmings. Mine is a trip to the cinema with ice cream :p

  • I'm doing this too - just completed second fasting day today - after being starving on day 1, I read some information on the 'satiety index' - basically, an index of which foods (fr the same calorie value) keep you fullest longest.

    http://www.mendosa.com/satiety.htm

Out of all the foods tested, boiled potatoes score most highly for this, (much higher than fried potatoes) and pulses score quite well too.

I also discovered that Lidl tinned new potatoes are only 53 calories per 100g, so you can have 300g of potatoes (a very good portion) for less than 160 calories - or a full tin for 190 calories - and they are cheap - I think they are either 19p or 29p a tin!

Either eat hot or cold, add seasonings and a low calorie sauce (either tomato or yoghurt based) and you have a satisfing meal!
  • Is the no sleep thing part if fasting as I have struggled so much on my fasting days?

I'm not usually a poster on this thread...

However I've been 5:2ing for almost three months and find the same. On a normal night I'm asleep by 10.. on the night of a fast day I struggle to sleep and often am still awake at 2pm (I usually get up at 5:30).
  • It's my third fast day tomorrow and the first I'll do back at work as I was off last week. I'm quite nervous about it as I'm usually ravenous by dinner time because we don't stop and nor do we have access to drinks. Fingers crossed it'll be ok....

Today was my first official weigh day after starting 5:2- and I've lost 3 pounds. I'm made up with that as I've eaten like an absolute pig on non-fast days (junk food and all sorts!)

Good luck for tomorrow anyone who's fasting. :)

Well done on your weight loss:T I have found my 3rd fast day quite hard, particularly after 5pm, but I've read it gets easier.
    Good luck tomorrow!

Fast day today - I was whinging that I hadn't lost anything last week - but got on the scales this morning & I'm still 153.7 - usually I go up a bit on non fast days & I've stayed the same. So feeling positive about getting a bit more of the muffin top deflated this week ;)

    Morning:)

I really am in the minority that has a fantstic sleep on a fast day. I was asleep for 9.30pm and struggling to wake up when my alarm went off at 7am. My sleep is one of the things I look forward to on a fast day.

Thanks for the tip of tinned potatoes, my next fast day is Thursday soI have been out and bought a small tin from the co op. 110 cals for the tin. I will have it with green beans (about 80 cals) and chicken, around 50grms which I think should be about 60 cals. That will fit in with the family too. They can all eat chicken, veg and roast pots. I'm on homemade veg soup for lunch which is about 100 cals. That should be about 350 cals and that's what I'm averaging on a fast day. I'm usally too knackered to eat anything more and desperate for my bed :rotfl:

Just re-reading the satiety Index, I've found that tangerines (Iceland sell a bag of small tangerines for £1 each one is 20 cals) really help me if I feel I want to snack. On the satiety index oranges come in at 202%!! No wonder tangerines work!
