I'm on every monday and wednesday... unless I get some irresistible offer!:rotfl:
The plan is to last on tea/water until I get home around 7pm. But I'm so busy all day it won't be difficult.

I made some puy lentil/cougette and spinash soup for tomorrow. With lovely Ryvita with pumpkin seeds (but, it wasn't me who empties the shelves... I had them before!)
And will probably have my usual green stir-fry as well!

I like the sound of your puy lentil/courgette and spinach soup:)

How many fast days did you do and not see any change doomengloom?

Two weeks then I switched to 4:3 last week. My wife found the same thing. She is really only trying to shift the last stubborn inch or so and that can be hard. 500 calories on a fast day is just too much.

I think the scales can be useful guide as long as you look at the long term trend rather than the day to day spikes and troughs. A mirror and/or a tape measure are probably better ways of checking progress.

I fasted yesterday and had a small plum for breakfast so I could take my Diclofenac, a coffee with soyamilk for my second tablet and a huge strirfry with 2 quorn burgers for tea and the last one of the day. I rarely weigh myself but have dropped 4" of my waist since I started.

You see, that's where I'm starting to think that I'll never be done and that the health benefits alone should justify this for life!:rotfl:
The weight is only moving very slowly down at the moment but I know it is a great way to keep the balance between completely guilt free most of the week (and that includes some excesses) and a small sacrifice 1 or 2 days a week.

  • I am looking forward to my BMI dropping from it's current 26.8 (was in the 27 range) to 24. I'm guessing at this rate around another 3 months then I'll go to 6:1. Wonder what weight I'll be then? Just enjoyed a mug of veg bouillon, very soon I must vacuum for exercise! Well done and keep going everyone.

I'm very interested in doing this, for health reasons as well as weight loss -I think I'd probably be ok during the day but I'm struggling to find how I could get by on fast days if having to cook for the rest of the family - ideally I'd like to be able to find something I could cook for them and just adjust slightly for myself, rather than having to cook two separate meals and making a big deal of it
    Any suggestions?

When I eat with them on my fast days, I only have a double portion of the side dish (veg stir-fry is a favourite), or if having soup they will have bread rolls with it and probably cheese and crackers and I just stick to the soup!

I also find it easy to have a dish prepared the day before that I just reheat for them.

I have to agree with you, I don't think I will ever be done. If I am lucky enough to acheive my goal weight, it will be a challenge to keep it there. Also if the health benefits are as good as suggested, I wouldn't want to lose them. I think the older I get the greater the urgency to do something and I wish I had done it when I was younger.

Sorry, when I said 'done' I meant I would go to 6:1. The health benefits is the reason I started this way of eating in the first place. I just didn't really need to lose much more weight. I'm 5ft 9 and a comfortable size 12. I feel if I lose much more I think I would start to look ill iyswim :o

I had the most amazing guilt free weekend. Weatherspoons large breaky on Friday, then had pizza for tea. Saturday is bacon sarnies in the morning, my own type of KFC style chicken on Saturday, with creamy coleslaw, buttered corn on the cob etc, Sunday is cake (Church! Staple diet ;)) huge roast dinner with more cake and then pizza again before bed. I was surprised the scales showed a loss when I got on this morning :p
