Any suggestions?
For me, I have to cook meals my hubby and kids like that I don't. They love steak, so Monday they have steak. My second fast day is Thursday, I give them all a choice that day(again it's food I don't like or you are banned from the house), my kids tend to ask for things like egg and beans on toast, OH will say he will go the chippy and eat it in the car :rotfl:.0 -
Glad to see you are all doing well.
I have been reading the book and am going to work out how to follow this diet sensibly. As has been rightly said - it's for life!
Today. I just had a bowl of porridge, some low fat greek yogurt and some blueberries for lunch and feel nicely full but not stuffed!
I'm going to have ryvita, philly and half a banana late afternoon and my vegetable stew this evening.
I have lost 4lbs but am just as concerned about the other health benefits.
Keep going - we're all in this together:)0 -
I find this a VERY 'do-able' diet. However, I also find that my best option is to eat a calorie counted ready meal at dinner time.
I cannot control my portion size of 'ordinary' home cooked food, so this works best for me. Cook for the others and eat separately myself on fasting days.
I buy Tesco own brand from the freezer section, Weight Watchers ordinarily seem to have slightly higher calories and definitely a smaller portion so I don't buy those!
Also found some pre-prepared meals in the chiller aisle, got fish pie and lamb shepherds pie, both average 300cal.
I don't eat breakfast anyway, so no loss there. Lunch is a plain salad or 43cal cuppa soup and maybe a 25cal rice cake with it (not always, those things are like MDF).
Harleys pre-made jellies only have 10cal so will satisfy a sweet craving and/or use up a few excess cals I might have in the evening without tipping me over 500 limit.
I never fail to EAT all the 500 on fasting days, I know people who skip the whole day barely eating 300cal, which I think is a bad idea.
I took about 11 weeks to lose a stone, tripped up at Xmas and had to lose 6lb of it twice........serves me right!
I love the 'starve' days, quite used to the routine and have more energy on those days, definitely don't crave food & not overly hungry the following day either.
No exercise, no alteration to eating habits on remaining 5 days.Seen it all, done it all, can't remember most of it.0 -
Sevenofnine, I am very similar, I have much more energy and my brain is much more sharper. I've aslo found I am less hungry if I have a lunch, I tend to stick with a tomato soup as it's low calorie.0

I'm struggling with this right now. I'm making the family toad in the hole, mash, carrots and gravy. Having used all my calories I have zilch now. Once served I'm going in the bath out of the way.
Ithink on fast days I will have to have a smoothie as Eliza suggested in the morning and maybe poached eggs on a slice of toast when the family are eating their normal home made grub. I do like the idea of a ready meal actually. Perhaps a weight watchers one of around 250 cals. Good idea.
Wish me luck getting through the next hour. I have done so well today I really don't want to jinx it now :eek:elizabunny wrote: »I have to agree with you, I don't think I will ever be done. If I am lucky enough to acheive my goal weight, it will be a challenge to keep it there. Also if the health benefits are as good as suggested, I wouldn't want to lose them. I think the older I get the greater the urgency to do something and I wish I had done it when I was younger.
I have never, ever stuck to a regime. I'm hoping to get some where with this. Micheal Moseley certainly comes across as knowing his stuff. It's the research that suggests it will help cognitive degeneration in later life that I'm the most fascinated with... and of course the weight loss.0 -
Doing my first fast day this week tomorrow & 2nd on Friday (so DH can get Fish & Chips from the chippy
) I find if I just keep busy I dont really think about food. I do make sure I drink lots though. I didn't seem to lose any weight last week but if it stays the same this week I may try 4:3 next week
Good Luck everyone & keep it up!!Small victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle0 -

Hello, I've been viewing this page for the last couple of months and decided today would be my first fast day. I'm on my feet all day at work and and it's a physically demanding job! I thought I would really struggle but to be honest I've found it really easy and will be fasting again on Wednesday.
Ideally I could do with losing about 4 stone, as I don't actually own any scales I will be judging my progress by how baggy my clothes get. Good look everyone.0 -
I have enough calories for a mug of 40 cals hot chocolate left. Hurrah! Well done to all fellow fasters today, it's been none too warm which doesn't help. My next repair will be Friday, after many grandsons bouncing around on intervening days.:hello:0

Keep going fasters!:j We're nearly done for today.
fuddle Hope you are doing ok on your first day. I have struggled for the last hour but had enough calories left to have some hot Bov*il:D I think I will get through now but it was looking very dodgy.
We went to the cinema and I thought that would help, but their were so many people eating snacks and right in front of me as well. Then when we came out the place was full of restaurants -oooh the temptation. I was so glad to get out of there.
Good luck to tomorrows fasters! Well done to those who managed to get through today:TSealed Pot Challenge 7 Member 022 :staradmin:staradmin:staradmin
