2 FOR 1 London days out loophole

Hi,
I´m going to visit London in a couple of week's time with other 3 people and have got a question about the 2for1 offer. I would appreciate if anyone could help me out.
We are getting to London from London City Airport and leaving from Gatwick. I looked up on the National Rail website and it is suggested to get a a ticket that includes an DLR, an underground, then an overground and get off at St. Pancras. On our way back, we can get a train to Gatwick from a train station. My questions are:
1) can we use 2 single tickets that are not from/to the same place on the offer?
2) can we use the DLR-underground-overground ticket as proof of the inbound ticket?
Thank you0 -
Do you know if they ask for your railcard at the attraction ticket office if you have purchased a train ticket with a railcard?0

Why should they, it's not in the T&Cs?
Having said that, of course no-one can predict what will happen when you present your tickets, can they?0 -
My recommendation is:
Clapham Junction - Vauxhall, specify 'annual goldcard' discount order online at http://www.southernrailway.com/ (7% cashback!) and collect at any station. It doesn't matter if you have that goldcard....
Cost is £1.25
For Kew Gardens, Richmond-Kew Gardens again order online with the discount and £1.250 -
Hello
I am unwell at the moment and am struggling to follow this thread.
Please may I ask if you can only get the 2 for 1 on the day of travel specified on the train ticket , or can you get it for the dates beween outbound and homebound tickets?
Sorry.0 -

Sorry.
You get it for the days in between as well - as long as you have the tickets. Don't give up the outbound half/ticket.0 -
Thanks so much that is good news. My final question, sorry - I have ordered the train tickets on line and will collect them from a machine at the train station, will i be able to use these or are they classed as electronic?
I am so sorry.0 -
They are not electronic - they are printed tickets indistinguishable (save to a nerd) to those printed in a ticket office.0

I have just found this thread while looking up for London 241. We are going again for a few days shortly and I am going to print off some vouchers. These 241s are a real steal, but just a word of caution. Some FMs are saying they have never been asked for train ticket proof. This is for the most part correct, but we have been asked for them at Churchill War Cabinet rooms. So it is always wise to have them with you just in case.0
